Anyone happen to know if this device works with any MP3 players other than Ipods? It says something about "compatible players" and I've seen some mention of external storage devices but nothing concrete.

thx

It has a USB cable so that you can plug in any other mp3 player or media to use on the unit.

From what I understand, you can even plug in some mass storage devices (like a USB jump drive) and it can read it.

The 200v is not a video cable. You have to use the KCA-ip300v to have video. You cannot put the nav on the second screen (I already asked Kenwood that).

So as I understand there is only 1 USB plug, and full iPod integration needs it. Has anybody come up with a scheme for full-time iPod use while leaving the option available to disconnect the 300 cable and plug up a usb thumb drive? I love that you can navigate and play songs off flash memory, so we need to set something up

The most obvious solution is to have the ip300v terminate in the console cubby and somewhere up near the head unit, leave a place to tuck the usb dongle to whatever flash. I dunno ideas? I'm having a hard time brainstorming without knowing the cable lengths

I don't see any way around it since using the iPod requires using the USB.

If this is really what you are looking for, the DDX8019 will have two USB plugs. Downside is it does not have internal Navigation, you must add KNGA510 has a separate unit.

The DNX7100 has the nav built in. It uses a flash type card.

Right, if you commit to running just iPod straight out the back of the head unit, then it would be all you could do. But If you were to say get a usb extension cable and put the 'usb-to-ip300v' connection in a place you could disconnect it and maybe stick a thumb drive~ might work ~

I dont know how much modification you'd have to do to the ip300v cable to seperate the usb end from the 2 minijack plugs; or if the HU would have a problem with a USB extender...

Granted, this would be overkill if you knew you'd be running the iPod 98% of the time, but might be worth the trouble if the flash/alternate player interface is as good as I've read.

I see what you're saying. I thought you were trying to find a way to run the iPod and another USB device at the same time.

I'm a total newb when it comes to this stuff. I have always regretted not getting the factory NAV.

Just to be clear, this would totally replace the factory Bose system I have, so I wouldn't have the CD changer?

Would I would have to just use my Ipod to play tunes, or will it play wav files off the DVD?

Crutchfield says it won't fit an 04 Z Roadster, does it require a lot of mods to fit?

Thanks
