Anyone get their stuff Through Crutchfield?
Seems cool how you can specify your car and get fitting components with all the necessary accessories, harness', brackets etc. Couple Questions and suggestions needed. I plan on doing the install myself. Not keen on having some 16 year old kid screwin up the new ride.
Been specing out a system for the new 07. Definitely set on the head unit unless you all can suggest another model that has a USB jack on the front, for thumbdrives, and is Satellite ready. (Clarion-DXZ575USB) Love the idea of connecting my 2Gb microdrive into the faceplate (24 albums is plenty between trips). Yes I'm an Ipod hater!
I also would like to replace the door speakers without using Pods, The Apline Alpine SPS-13C2 seem OK since they have pivoting tweets and go for 90 bucks or so. I don't plan on using an amp to drive them just the head unit, The rears will remain stock. Now the big question, need to get some sort of 'removable' box or tube, Their site suggests the 10 inch 200w-amped Bazooka tubes. ANy good? I'm not looking to break the bank or shake the earth, just some deece sound from the 'inside' of the ride.
ANy suggestions or comments welcome.
Thanks,

I've never used Bazookas but every time I hear them...I wouldn't even call it 'deece'

I've used Crutchfield site to spec things out. I love their large, extra large views and the specs they give on items. As for buying, I tend to find things elsewhere much less!
I met and now know the owner ,David, at Woofersect. thru buying my latest components, amps, wiring, ect. for my install for the 350Z and let me tell you what a great guy and great family! I live by L.A. where they have there storefront so I went there personally. They will bend over backwards to give you great service. Highly recommended!!! If you call there ask for David and tell him Glenn with the silver Z sent you! Tell him you want my pricing!
I've bought stuff from both woofersetc and Crutchfield, both are excellent vendors.
Just depends on the product, and I will pay more (typically from Crutchfield) as long as it's not double.

Your H/U selection is a good choice. You will really like the Clarion.
For the door speakers (and since you are not going with pods), you should also look at the Focal 165 V Slim. It fits into the stock front door speaker space, and is just a great component speaker that delivers incredible sound. I put the tweeter into the front windshield pillar (not the stock tweeter position), and the rest of it into the front door.
I think you should reconsider this: “I don't plan on using an amp to drive them just the head unit.” An external amp will give you a noticeable improvement driving your fronts. This is not expensive and well worth the benefit.
The OEM rears are garbage that interferes with a decent audio build-up. I would suggest either replacing the rear speakers with decent coaxial speakers, or not using the rears at all (turn them off since you really don’t need them if you install quality components in the front).
Can’t offer any advice on the SubW. I’m a golfer needing every inch of cargo space in my Z, and couldn’t fit a sub without losing needed room for two sets of clubs and a couple of bags.
Best wishes on your project. --Spike
i bought my exhaust from crutchfield. offered free shipping and it was tax free. Paid the flat price on the webpage shipped to my door. On top of that they signed me up for a free 24month subscription to their catalog. Some things are pricey, but you can find the deals.
So when you mean customer service, they know the intricacies of the Z, like how to take off panels, dash, firewall port location, etc? If so, that's worth a few extra bucks. Not a big fan of just prying on the pieces. I want to save the install costs but don't want to F-Up my new ride.

If they want my business they will chime in.
