Default Scosche or Metra?

I got a free Scosche kit with my HU purchase. Should I just use it since it was free or is the Metra kit that much better?? I've got a Alpine 9885.

I used the Scosche and had no problems. Is it for a single or double DIN? I think the Metra is easier to integrate a double DIN, but I like the quality and finish on the Scosche.

Metra and I've had both. The pocket of the single DIN Scoshe kit kept falling out. The Metra single DIN part of the kit is all one piece. I was able to sell the single DIN piece that comes with the Metra kit.

what about the top portion of the single DIN metra set-up, it seems like most pictures I've seen on here make the receiver's steel sleeve visible. Is there any kit out there that iliminates this?

Thanks Spike this picture cleared this issue for me. Guess the picture I saw was maybe a different kit. I see your set-up has the Metra-bezel; if you were to use the radio's bezel how would fitment look? & Another question is what about the depth of the radio, can this be adjusted?

This a 2003 Z so it's been awhile since the install. If I remember correctly, the radio depth can be adjusted. Looking closely at the picture you can see the fit isn't 100%, but it look pretty good.

Does either one sell a kit for two single din units instead of a whole double din?

I really wish there was a company that made a quality dash kit... Something that doesnt have any gaps and fits good. These $20 kits just dont seem to look good in our cars. I have tried the metra and it looks imo like crap, the AI creeks for some reason (maybe mine is defective?). Now im about to try the scosche, which i finally hope is atleast DECENT.

Maybe I am took picky, or should get a custom dash kit done. But for a $30k~ car, these $20 kits just are not cutting it imo

Yeah, fitment isn't perfect. I'm not sure what brand mine is. I bought it from Crutchfield.com...

Although, fitment on the HU kit isn't any worse than the fitment of the factory cubby door...

I had both on hand for my new HU install and ended up using the Scosche double din bezel over the metra. The figment was just a little bit better. If I was getting a single din radio I would have used the metra, It is a lot more robust then the Scosche single din kit.

My Advice, get both and try them they are cheap enough.
