Linking OEM Nav Audio to Aftermarket HU W/OUT Adding Another Speaker
Yes, I have looked and searched through all the information in the forums in regards to this issue. However, I and many others really want to know one thing: Is it in any way possible to add an aftermarket headunit and retain the navigation voice commands without installing a separate speaker? I have an '01 Nissan Pathfinder with Bose and an '04 350z with Bose and Navigation that I just got. As with many others, I like to have a complete plan laid out before I go and take things apart to put in a system - which I will do as soon as I get an answer. Now, I have found many interesting things that lead me to believe that the navigation audio can be done through the OEM speakers.
Things I have found:
1. I read in one of the threads that the navigation system basically generates a line level signal to the headunit
2. A mute relay can be made in order to mute the headunit when the navigation audio plays and is referenced here:

3. Peripheral makes a 2 channel speaker switcher that can also accomplish the transition from headunit audio to navigation audio as is referenced in this thread:
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....+voice+command
4. Peripheral also makes a Pre-Amp Boost which is here:

I have an Eclipse HU with 8V pre-outs and in my pathfinder, the wiring harness is such that it gives me RCA's to hook into the HU pre-outs and thus interface with the Bose amp. When I bought this wiring harness, it was supposedly something new that they had come up. I got it from Sound Sensations which is one of the best audio places in my area. ( http://www.sound-sensations.com/ ) Similarly, I would assume that the headunit and amplifier interface works basically the same way in the 350z. That being said, has anyone tried hooking the navigation audio output wires to the Bose amp inputs since the navigation output is basically line level? If so, what was the result? Furthermore, if this was done and the navigation was inaudible, it should be possible to connect the pre-amp boost by peripheral between the navigation audio output and the Bose amp input in order to boost the signal to an audible level. If anyone has any thoughts on this or even another way to do it WITHOUT adding another speaker, post here! As soon as I get a free day, I will talk to some of the audio pros in my area and will post my findings.

Old thread but I am thinking the same thing.....The bose amp basically accepts line level inputs from the nav and amplifies them....so I would assume that the nav output can be wired into the left front speaker input for the bose amp (left front speaker output in regards to the radio). Most aftermarket radios also have a mute circuit built in that can accept a signal from the nav...
all i need is the OEM wire diagram for both the bose radio and navigation and I should be able to come up with something
