Default Garmin in cubbyhole question

quick question, with the garmin set up in the cubbyhole will i need to run an antenna for it? I'm guessing it won't be able to pick up signals through its internal antenna since it would be shielded.... anyone have any experience with this?

If you’re asking about mounting a Garmin portable inside the upper/forward cubby, you probably do not need an external antenna. I’ve put a Garmin V (an old unit) and a Nuvi in the upper/forward cubby, and did not need an external antenna. The unit’s internal antenna worked fine.

I ran mine through the plastic just fine....then I installed XM into my car and drilled the corner of the cubby to run wires...it wasn't hard to do, and i don't regret it...yet (been done for 7 months now) :-D

680 fits with room to spare. However, FM broadcast for the 680 suffers a little. Navigation is fine
