Default ANY XBOX MODDERS HERE? help plz?

hi,

i was wondering if any of you guys could help me. I have looked online and others have been successful in modding an Xbox to where the hardrive is first inline (slave) on the ide cable and the cdrom drive is second in line (as in master) that way i can use a 36 inch IDE cable and mount the CDrom where i can access it in the car.

the modder that is modding my xbox is saying its not working that way. hes using a DouX2 chip and was able to get it flashed with the Xecuter2 5035 BIOS.

There was another member on here that had his working this way with EVO-X desktop/dashboard, but i pm'd him and havent heard back, plus i dont know what chip he used?

do you know if there is anything that can be done to get the harddrive and cdrom drive to switch?

please call me if you can guys if yall know how to make this work. 210-889-2305 or i can call you if long distance is an issue?

thanks a lot.
Jason

Why cant you just set master/slave using the jumpers instead of cable select?

the installer I knew I lost touch with, but here is a place I used to use, along with the DMS forum that went ****-up

bump on the jumper fix....computer science major here, built quite a few rigs....sounds like that would be the fix, just use the jumpers to select master/slave, then the cable will work however you put it.

been a while since i modded a xbox

why not just replicate your stock 8/10 gig hdd onto a 120-160 gig hdd. You keep the cdrom. You can lock the hdd so you can use it on xbl iirc. Just dont play off the hdd.

Why get rid of the cdrom? seems like alot of trouble. irrc it can be done but you need certain bios and the proper chip to do it. Youll need a power splitter as well, since the cdrom has a special connector that has power and outputs on it.

The first slot (distal to the motherboard) is master, and the second slot midways down the ribbon cable (proximal to motherboard) is slave. Set the drives like that, fix your jumpers and it should work. Never modded an xbox before but ive built countless systems, dont see why it would be any different.

xbox dvd drive does not have any jumpers....

i found out that its not gonna work that way. from my findings you have to mod the xbox with whatever chip that has bios that upon boot up doesnt care about drive location. from what i gather evo-x mod bios works...

so far with the mod i have im gonna have to get an IDE extension cable to make it work..

Also,

for those of you out there that want an Xbox modded. i used this guy name Terry that does great work.

you fed-ex him your xbox and hd and he does the mod, installs chip, hd and about 8 gigs of emulators and programs for a great price. 70 bucks shipped back to you!
