Got mine from Nazar and installed it last night. It's pretty cool, I dont know what I would rate it because it's my first aftermarket head unit (Nothing to compare it to). The green to ground bypass works, I havent tried any DVD's in it yet but I have my 80gig Ipod classic which plays the movies pretty awesome. The Bluetooth is pretty clear mounted on the driver side piller, and the GPS is awesome and very accurate. I tried to purposely get lost and ignore the directions to see how well it would get me back, and it put me back on track quickly (GPS antenna mounted under the plastic to the right of rear z bar thing.) The radio is ok..but for some reason it's not picking up all the stations. Not fond of the themes save for the carbon fiber looking one that it started with.

Lastly the install was pretty easy (save for finding a place for all the wires behind the headunit.) The only thing that sucked is I scratched up the part of the dash that houses the headunit pretty bad so I'll have to get another one and go through the whole ordeal of tucking all the wires again.

Just a quick review of my experience so far, if anyone is look at getting it I would recommend it at this point.

I installed mine last night....it is SWEET! I've never had an all in one unit like this before to compare to, but this thing is smooth. There are a helluva lot of wires to solder (if you go that route), and depending on what vehicle you throw it in, the space can get a bit tight....but all in all it was a very successful install.

The DVD functionality is sweet, takes a bit to get used to navigating the DVD by touching blind areas on the screen, but I'm sure that is something that I will get used to.

The unit's user interface also seems to be pretty good. Like I said, I have nothing to compare to, but I am content with it.

The NAV portion is sweet...exactly like my buddy's GARMIN unit.

Haven't done a whole lot with the bluetooth yet, but we hooked my brothers phone up to it last night for a second, and I noticed that the sound during a call seemed to only come out of one speaker instead of 2/4....so I will have to look into that. However, sound quality on both ends was great!

Also, for anybody that cares...the "ground the parking break wire" bypass still works :-)

How about some pics from those that have installed this unit? Definately, it looks like bad *** unit from what I have heard and read. I'm happy for those that got them.

Bluetooth speaker is selectable. Youcan set it for both front speakers, Left speaker only or right speaker only.

Thanks Nazar,

I will have to figure out how to do that....I was hoping this would be possible. This instruction manual that comes with the unit leaves something to be desired.

One other thing I couldn't figure out was how to turn off the DVD subtitles....in quickly looking last night, I was unable to find an "off" option. Anybody know how to do this?

Got mine today but won't be able to install until this Friday. Time to get the harness soldering ready.

Nice packaging from Nazar.

Nazar, are you guys still catching up on back orders?

I'd like to order one, as the local stereo shops do not stock Kenwood.
They do have Pioneer Avic D3's in stock though...

But if you are all caught up and it only takes a week or so, I will probably go this route instead.

That Kenwood is nicer than the pioneer in my opinion, the D3 is a nice set up, but the Kenwood has alot more to offer.

I have a major noob question. I'm installing this using the standard Bose speaker set up for now. I bought the Metra kit with the RCA connectors. I guess my question is, can you connect all of the grounds together? There is one wire on the Metra going to the chassis and the other says to amp ground and there's nothing like that on the 8120.
Sorry for the remedial question, but that's what I am when it comes to stereos.
If someone else has done this same setup, could you PM me as to your connections?
Thanks.

Just a note to all you with Blackberrys. I tried to connect mine to my DNX8120 and it kept disconnecting by itself. I called into Kenwood and they said it is currently a known issue and they are working on getting a fix that will be a downloadable update.

Is that just a Blackberry issue, or is it a Bluetooth problem with cell phones in general?

Default DNX8120 Ipod Problem?

Anyone have any problems watching IPOD video? I used DVDFab to decrypt a movie to an Ipod format (MP4). Looks great on the Ipod, but when viewing it on the DNX8120, at lease a third of the picture is chopped off from the sides, top, and bottom. I tried every angle possible from the remote, and searched for all I can. Any clues? Of course I have a Blackberry too which I am extremely upset about....Other than that, this unit is amazing!

Two major issues, both bluetooth related:

My Sprint Motorola Q9c only automatically connects up to the headunit about 50% of the time and doesn't disconnect from calls often. The other issue is the audio quality of the DNX8120 over bluetooth is pretty poor, the microphone barely picks up my voice. I need to be within a foot or so of the mic for it to effectively pick up my voice. Anyone else experience this with the bluetooth?

Other than the major bluetooth issues (which I never experienced with the Pioneer DEH-P980BT) the DNX8120 is absolutely awesome. Nav, DVD, MP3 over USB, and tuner all work splendidly.
