Question PLEASE HELP!!! Navigation cable

the wire that attaches the motorized cubby lid to the main harness was cut. does anyone know what type of wire it is, where i can get a replacement, or if i can get it repaired? is there a part number for it? i went to nissan and they said i have to get the whole harness for the whole car replaced which is $1200. i've attached some pictures for reference.

I wish I could give you a cable....but I can't. But, if you are decent with a soldering iron (or know someone who is) you can probably fix this. It wont look pretty, but its possible. I've done it before on a ribbon cable just like this. Get an Exacto knife and strip away the cover from each of the contacts. Get some really thin wire (maybe 20ga for this) and cut however many pieces you'll need. Pull the other end out of the connector and start soldering. You have to be careful becasue you can't cross any of the contacts. You could use the knife to slice each wire in the ribbon it it has its own section, which would make things easier. I know this isn't the idea solution, but if you can't find the harness it may be all you have!

Your best best is going to a junk yard, if it's part of the harness you can't just buy it. Chances are they used this on other cars not just the Z. You can easily repair it, or hack something to get it to work. Go to a local car audio shop they might be able to fix it for you.

^^ Wow! Almost two years later and you still need this part (which probably is worth less than $20).

It appears to be a standard ribbon. You need to know the pin-outs. This information is available in Nissan's service manuals.

Did you contact Nissan and ask for this information?

You can repair the ribbon/wire. ...not easy. but possible. Of course you need the wiring diagram.
