Just installed Infinity Kappa's in the doors!
With the excellent help of these two threads.....

....I just finished up installing a pair if Infinity Kappa 62.5i's in the doors. Only ran into one problem (there always has to be one)....I stripped the bolts that hold the passenger door handle on....need to go out and get some new bolts. Other than that. everything went smoothly. I just positioned the tweeters (you can rotate them for the best angle) and put the stock speaker grills back on.....off to Home Depot for some bolts.
I'll post a couple pics.

Sure...I'll try as best I can. Once you remove the stock speaker from the door, you simply peel the cone of the speaker away from the plastic frame. Then, turn the speaker over and with either a dremel, or a pair of plier snips (I couldn't find my dremel) simply cut away the plastic that holds the magnet to the frame of the speaker. What you're left with is the shell of the original speaker that is perfect for use as a spacer for your new speaker. Simply attach, with screws (more than likely the ones supplied with your new speakers), your new speaker to the spacer and then mount it back in the door. There's a hole in the top of the spacer where the original speaker wires plugged into the speaker....if your new speaker has a crossover, you can use that hole to run your wires through....works perfectly.

The speakers behind the seat are still stock, but I'm going to replace them with another pair of the same Kappa's. I disconnected the factory tweeters because they were too harsh sounding and they were ruining my sound stage.
Definitely a much better overall sound. The highs are more defined and clear, while the bass has a lot more tone to it and you can crack it without worrying about distortion.

Man, I knew Bose speakers were crap but one look at that driver reinforced that theory. A good 'ol paper cone with a "whizzer" attachment. That's 1960's technology for ya!

About door panels...do they have clips? I was at my dealer last week, going to get a couple spares for the weekend of the 4th, when I plan on installing mine, went to the parts dept. and couldn't find the on the parts illustration. So..clips, or no?

had the exact same speakers that i was going to install. The rear ones made it in, but i sent back the front pair to get the component version (seperate tweets) now I just need the time to put them in. Did you keep the factory tweets hooked up or you diconnect them, just wondering.....
