Default Quick Head Unit Install Question (Amp?)

I know the Bose system has an amp, but I have a 2008 BASE 350z. Although the DIY Avic-D3 guide looks pretty easy, but I'm more comfortable having the pros do it (not a good solderer!). Anyways, I got quoted for the install of the Avic-D3 in my BASE '08 and he said that there is a "small amp" that needs to be wired up, so its going to be a lot more than he first thought.. roughly $250-300 if all goes well... Just wanted to know, do '08 Base models even have an amp? The DIY on here looked pretty damn simple.. I may just DIM if it will save me that much money.

If you are not experienced with installs, I would recommend that you have someone install it for you. If you have installed several decks before, single din units, etc, then you can do it no problem.

I'm definitely having a professional do it, but as of right now my installer is under the impression that there is a factor amp that needs to be wired up to the new HU. Is there an amp in the 2008 base or not? This could save me a good chunk of change it seems. Thank you.

Eh, in my 2003 with BOSE, the BOSE system worked fine and all I had to do was use the wiring harness. I've never had to do any "Amp-Bypass" like people have been saying.

Don't Bose systems have a different ohm rating that other OEM or after market systems? I thought I heard there is some sort of conversion system required if you try to change out one part of your Bose system while leaving the rest as is.

Lol, yes, please! I'm sure the 08 didn't change anything from the 07 audio, but my audio guy is under the impression that there might be something different in the 08.

I got off the phone with him a few hours ago, and he sorta explained a few of the things that may pose to be an issue, along with the fact that apparently there's more to it than to just do the e-brake bypass? Apparently Pioneer is the ONLY company that has a built-in switch or something that automatically turns off a DVD at 5mph?? He said this is the case with the avic-d3... is this true??

He also noted the "tiny amp" again.. he said that by hooking everything up right will allow me to build onto my current set up easily and correctly.

It just amazes me that SO many people apparently installed this unit THEMSELVES without a problem, but apparently this guy is telling me that this could be a potentially complicated/costly install... is he correct about the 08's or is he wrong???

if the 08 is in fact the same as the 07, he is dead wrong. i suggest that you read the avic d3 install guide on this forum to get a better understanding. all the bypass entails is splicing a wire and grounding two of them. easy as that.

I just put a Avic-Z2 in my Nismo which has the same HU and wiring as yours.... No there is not an amp. Also I will note that the guy is raping you! Circuit City will do it for 99 bucks. If you were in Jax, FL I would do it for you for free. It would take you maybe 2 hours to do it urself with no prior expierence.
