Where to put microphone (and how to run wires)
I'm going to be ordering a Kenwood 5220 soon (UK version of 5120) with the bluetooth module, and will be fitting this to my roadster. Where's the best place to mount the microphone (anyone got any pics?) and how do I run the wire for it?
Cheers

I will take a pic of mine later if I remember.
It is just popped out of the front left pillar near the top of the windshield, where it splits into 2 parts.
Works good cause its right near your face.
I also have a roadster

i just installed my BTB200 with my pioneer HU and i put the microphone on my visor.. seems to work pretty nicely but its not as inconspicuous i guess..ran the wires behind the pillar as well. I have a G tho.

You say it's not as inconspicuous... why? Didn't you run the wire from the pillar and in between the headliner and top of the car? If you do that and then remove the visor screws, you can bring the wire through that and all you'll see is the mic clipped to the end of the visor. Unless the visor is down I guess, but I've never put mine down, don't know if you guys do...

Mine was mounted/ clipped on my a-pillar. Wires were run down and below kick panel and door sill.
FWIW- For my Alpine unit, while it functions fine, the mic needs to be much closer to me. My car is too noisy for there to be that much distance. I've experimented with holding it and my wife says she can hear me much better. With the current location, she says it's very hard to hear.

I've got mine at the top of the A pillar too. The plastic just pops off by pulling on it. Make sure to wrap the wire of the microphone with electrical tape to the existing cable run inside else you'll end up with an annoying rattle.

The HU understands my commands, as far as Bluetooth goes, I can't answer that because I don't use it yet...not until July. But yes, with the console door closed, the HU understands all of my commands, whether it be for GPS or my AV.
