Ahhh I see where the confusion is.. This guide is for FRONT SPEAKERS ONLY. =)
I recommend doing away with the rear speakers completely... Get your front stage nice and you won't need them.

I'm a bit new to all this sorry if this is a repeated question.
With the spacer does the door panel still fit correctly? Is there any changes to installation besides the spacer?

Hey, this thread has perfect timing... I was just remounting my components, and it just happens that the crossover terminals on my Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1's are pure ****... the screws became unthreaded or something, and wouldn't hold my speaker wire. Plus the crossover is HUGE and wouldn't fit anywhere securely. I am OVER these speakers, so am now in the market for new components that A) Fit in stock location w/ spacer, B) have a smaller crossover C) sound more natural than the Infinitys. I couldn't get them to sound right; plus, I have a new amp which pumps 150W RMS, so I can handle some beefy components now!!!!
Suggestions from the list? What would make the Infinity's sound bad AND be better quality?! Bing? Sintaxeror? Anyone!

Phoenix Gold RSD65CS barely fit with 1" Spacers plus extra padding. Also needed to mod the door a little to keep the speakers from touching.
So I would say "No" didnt fit... or "yes" with some cutting and modding.

apparently the ability to edit our posts has been revoked, so I am unable to add more information at will. I have PM'd a mod to add the Phoenix Gold info, and will do so for information on any other speakers that we get in here. Hopefully this development won't kill the progress of this thread.

Polk SR6500's fit if you use the stock speaker as a spacer. Not sure the stock grill will fit if you mount the tweeter in the "comp-axial" arrangement (where the tweeter is mounted coaxially). I will check tomorrow when I finish the install. I am going to be cutting ou the stock grill and covering it with speaker cloth to help improve sound... hopefully it won't bulge out.
Edit, post install: I cut the stock grill (stock sound blocker) out and covered the frame in speaker cloth. And they fit over the Polk SR6500's, even in the "comp-axial" mode with the tweet mounted on the woofer. Also, to get the stock spacer to work, you need to do a tiny bit of shaving along the inside edge, as the baskets of the Polk speakers are fairly wide.

Focal 165 V2S (not the slim version) will fit with a tapered/angled spacer. I will be making version 2 this weekend to allow for more space (currently .125") between the surround and the door panel.
