Dynamatting for loud exhaust?
My exhaust is extremely loud from the inside of my Z (Injen SES Titanium) and I want to dynamat it to cut down on some of the noise. What exactly would work the best? Just doing the trunk or more?
You'll have to dynamat everything: floor, hatch, doors etc. Probably multiple layers. Hopefully someone will chime in who's done it. I did my hatch area and didn't really notice a difference.
I layered the entire trunk, floor and doors with three to four layers of Dynamat to cut down on the exhaust noise in my 2003 Cobra. It helped a ton (probably 30-40%). My roomate has headers and exhaust (loud) on his Z and has yet to try the Dynamat, but I know for a fact it would help out the noise a lot.

I found that the biggest difference came from dynamating the compartment right behind the driver's seat and passenger seats. More importantly, put in some foam of some type rather than dynamating. I also found that the spare tire area let in a ton of noise. Put in some foam around there and it will quiet up a bunch.

I did the rear trunk area, doors and inside the compartment were the subwoofer and glovebox area are as well as the rear strut bar, it was enough to make me want to do more! I think the entire floor needs to be done.
I have the same exhaust.

Anyone ever notice how quiet the environment is inside the G35/37?
Before anyone gets “all bent out of shape,” I will tell you that I have a 350z (which I really like). I only mention the Infiniti version since it is very quiet, but still delivers the great exhaust and engine sound.

I've laid eDead in my trunk, doors, and on the outer part of the rear speaker compartment and all places to the back of that. I thought about doing the inside of the sub compartment and glove box place, but I held off on it. Seems like it would make a difference.

ok... wow... this is a 350z... the exhaust is nothing less than beautiful and thrilling... when i know im about to floor it, i make sure my windows and top are down, as well as music off so i can hear my exhaust fully... it sends chills down my spine everytime...
i couldnt imagine why anyone would ever want to deaden the sound of his/her exhaust... im glad im a guy cause a chub i could deal with, if i was a chick im sure my leather wouldve been ruined by now... (if u dont get it than ur an idiot..)
i understand this forum is "how to deaden ur exhaust" and all... but i really have to know why would you ever want to!!! =[
this car was made to be driven... like really driven, and anyone who can appreciate that should also appreciates its exhaust... the voice of the car if you will...
all i gotta say is dont do it man... be proud wen ur duals roar.. be proud lol...
chortik, i know where you are coming from, but i would rather have a dead quiet ride, which i can roll the windows down to hear the fierce growl, rather than being subject to it (as well as road noise) the whole time. i didnt spend upwards of a thousand dollars on audio equipment to go to waste...
