Default Porting a Zenclosure

Thinking about getting a single 10" zenclosure box, and putting an fi audio BL series in it. I just think that the ported box is going to get a little lower bass for me. I know that crutchfield sells aero ports for subwoofer boxes for like 5-10 bucks. So If i get a Zenclosure with like 1.0cuft of airspace, what diameter and length pipe should I get?

And if I dont go with the single 10, I'm also tihnking about getting the dual 12 box Zenclosures sells, porting it, and throwing some Alpine R's in there.

How so? This isn't always the case (in fact rarely). ported boxes 'seem' to dig deeper because they are easier to get louder at the tuned frequency. The truth is a sealed enclosure of proper volume and fed the proper power can yield deeper bass from a given driver, although not necessarily louder with a given amount of power. You say you want deep, then sealed would be better for you, if you want louder at an optimal '33Hz' or whatever you are tuning the ported box to - and then have a steep rolloff below that, then ported will suit your needs better.

But anyway, you 'could' do it. What Zenclosure has 1 cu ft volume?

These links should help you figure out everything you need:

The boxes do not have the proper airspace to be ported. You could have one custom made for 1 12", but there is not enough room for two. For example RF P3 12" require 1ft ^3 for sealed. But for a ported box they need 1.75ft^3!

I had thought about that, but then remembered Mike sells a single 10" understrut box with amp rack that has a gross 1.4 cu ft volume. After port and Fi Q sub are installed, he will probably net a good 1.1 cu ft.

So which do you think would be better, the one 10 or the 2 12's. I've never owned a sub smaller than a 12 so im not sure i'll satissfy my bass needs with the 1 10.

1 10" sub given the right amount of power in the proper box SHOULD be able to satisfy anyones need for bass in a Z

if a person wants to run a q no REAL reason to port anyway

they do great sealed

but if you wind up with a net cu ft after port it still works

well i was looking at the 10 just to get some space back, but i never erally haul anything in the Z anyways. So I was looking at this box:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-...6647QQtcZphoto

Then I was just gonna get a razor blade to cut off the carpet, and cut a hole into the box to and slide one of the crutchfield aero ports into it. I was thinking about dropping in 2 alpine R's

If you don't mind giving up the hatch space, let 350zspl hook you up with a setup. I guarantee he won't disappoint.
