Default thinking of replacing JL subs with Image Dynamics

I can't seem any place that carries any Image dynamic subs in my area. I was thinking of getting rid of my one sub set up for two 10 subwoofers.

Current set up:
10" JL W7
500/1 JL amp

i was thinking of getting two Image Dynamics IDQ series instead of just one IDMAX.

would this sound pretty decent compared to my w7? i know two subs push more air but will i be benefiting at all? These subs seem to like a small enclosure that i want to run.

If any of you guys have any other recommendations, please post up. thanks.

two idqv3s would be louder than a single w7, but the new idqv3 is not exactly a small box sub, and prefers to be in something like a .75 per sub to sound best.

awe, i was hoping i could of gotten away with .5 cubic space each 10" sub. I really want to try a two sub set up but i'm not willing to have a huge box in my car. I would love to have one of your enclosures you make. That's nice.

ZEnclosure with 1.4cu I think. Running it on an Elemental Designs nine.1 and it's plenty enough power for it. Lovin' it so far, step over the 11Ov2 which I expected it to be. Definitely don't regret buying it

oh ok, i believe i have the same box. Glad you like it. To be honest, i just want two jl w7s but i know it's not going to work with what i want in the car. THe box would be way too big. I wonder if i should try to start dampening my trunk and some parts of the car to get better sound. I usually don't like using the sound deadener because of future rust problems, but i might give it a try.

I put eDead in my hatch to help keep the exhaust noises out when I had the Nismo exhaust with test pipes. I have no idea if it helped with the sub or not because I didn't have a sub at the time

did it work with your exhaust noises? i'm actually thinking of making a purchase on the deadener stuff right now. I will go with Edead and ED branding as well.

Yeah, it did make it noticeably quieter. How much quieter I have no idea lol. It was $.80 for the eDead v1 so hell, I couldn't complain for the price really. I also did a friend of mines car as well and it helped him out a little as well. I only put 1 layer on mine though, I would have done about 2 or 3 if I could do it again. I think thats what I did for Jason333's car. The results were much prettier than mine

haha, sounds good. Thanks for the info. I'll make sure i'll buy more for more layers. I like that some of ED products stick to plastic and stuff as well. I have a few places where i want to stick it. (no homo)

I didn't have any issues sticking it anywhere

Didn't do any prep work or anything aside from taking all the crap out of the hatch. Did the floor and the rear panel... that panel seems to allow of noise to travel through. I'll probably buy some more and put more layers there after I get the rear end fixed.

As I'm sure you know, two tens will have a deeper bass note than a single W7, but if you're simply looking to get more kick, why not just up the anty on the amp? A 500/1 is only going to give you half of what the JL W7 can handle. I'm also a fan of the Image Dynamics line; I'm only stating that you can increase performance with your existing equipment. The only problem with increasing power is that there are only a number of amps you can use as a result of the W7's 3-ohm SVC configuration. The JL 1000/1, as played-out as it is, is the best choice because of its ability to produce 1000 watts at any impedence.
