Default Wiring ques for guys that have radar

I have researched the topic and will be hard wiring my new Escort 8500 by running a phone cord from the mirror area down the A-pillar and into the fuse box. I have never wired a thing in my life, but I AM pretty handy...just a couple quick questions.

1. What size fuse did you guys use?
2. Do you just tie the fuse into the wire inline near the fusebox?
3. Does the fuse tie in with both ground and hot wire?
4. How do you tie the hot wire into the accesory location in the fuse box?
5. Just connect the ground wire to a chassis screw or bolt right?

Thanks for the help guys, I know I can get the wire in the right place...just want to know what to do with it when I get it there!

Okay...I think I have found a thread that answers ques. numbers 2, 4, and 5. Just to double check...

you only need a fuse on the hot wire right?
Also, what size inline fuse did you 8500 users use?

I can't wait to install my birthday present to myself! I get it FedEx tomorrow

I just wrapped the hot wire around one leg of the cig lighter fuse and grounded the neg wire to a bolt under the steering wheel (all the way down and under - a few inches from the fuse box but not in the fuse box area). It works like a charm.

1. What size fuse did you guys use?

check the manual.. i did not use a fuse

2. Do you just tie the fuse into the wire inline near the fusebox?

yes the fuse will be inline on the hot wire

3. Does the fuse tie in with both ground and hot wire?

only the hot wire

4. How do you tie the hot wire into the accesory location in the fuse box?

i soldered all wire connections and tied into the main accessory wire going into the ignition

5. Just connect the ground wire to a chassis screw or bolt right?
]

yes, all the metal in the car (if touchiing chassis) is ground and can be used.

Thanks Josh (and Potato), I got it! Took a few minutes to find a grounding location that I liked, but it sure was nice cruisin' to work at 90+ mph this morning, helped make up for my late start!
