Default speaker + amp question

After multiple peoples suggestions, I believe I may be getting only front speakers instead of swapping out all 4. The shop I'm going to get everything installed at sells Hertz speakers and they wanted $330 for the HSK165 speakers and $199 for the HCX165 coax speakers. He suggested running them on a Fosgate T600-4. I found this Kicker 08ZX650.4 for much cheaper and it puts out a bit more power. Which amp would you guys suggest? I probably will get the back speakers (HCX165) later on. Any suggestions? I read these are a pain to get installed and I was originally going to get Polk MM6501 and MM651 but for the minor price difference I think Hertz is the way to go after reading all the great reviews on them.

Thanks for any help

from what ive experienced and im sure someone else will chime in and give they experiences and knowledge

but you arent going to need to buy rear speakers, just get rid of them permanently

next are you going to be mounting htme in the stock location?
that will determine the speakers that you purchase unless you go with door pods or kicks

as fas an amp ive always gone with jl audio but theyre plenty out there for the same price if not less and offer great quality

i have a set of new memphis components for sale

RF and MTX own all amps on actual performance and they've proven it many many times. Stay away from Kicker. IMO they are the fial. My buddy swapped out a "300 watt RMS" kicker with an older RF I gave him that had a 250W RMS rating and his system hit way harder and crisper. There are a few things to consider when buying an amp and Watts are not it. You need to look at their efficiency. At the end of the day I've seen literally 50-60 serious systems in my or friends cars and we have tried many amps from Clarion, JL, Sony, Alpine, and Infinity. I will personally never sway again from either RF or MTX.

I guess I cant fully relate because I've never heard a system with no rear speakers but I figured I minus well have an amp good enough just in case I do want to add rear speakers later on, when I have the money. I've heard great things about JL, thats why my sub and sub amp are JL but there 4 channel amps are above my budget so I started looking for alternatives. I've heard good things about kicker but am hoping to get more feedback about this specific kicker amp (Kicker 08ZX650.4) I also realized this amp only goes up to 20Hz where as many speakers go to 25-30Hz. Would that be an issue. I did realize that JL's amps usually go to 30Hz.

Sundown Audio SAX-100.4 can be had for $395. Puts out 100W x 4, perfect to run those Hertz speakers active.

Kicker:
* RMS Power @ 4 Ohms: 120W x 4
* RMS Power @ 2 Ohms: 170W x 4
Cost - $278
HSK165's are 125w RMS at 4ohm.
I believe the freq responce on the HSK are up to 22Hz but the amp only goes to 20Hz. Will that be a prob. Only amp that goes to 30Hz that I found after a 5 min search are JL's and they are way out of my price range. Just want to make sure that kicker won't hold back the hertz.

Any Rockford amp that I have installed (post-2000 models) have all had some sort of noise issues. My theory is because of the inexpensive transistors they are using now. I would use a Rockford for subs but thats about it. MTX made some nice powerful amps back in the day (the old blue thunders were great!) but sadly I see too many of them on ebay for waaay too cheap. How can their quality control be monitored closely? Look at some alternatives

- Realm 600.4
- DD C4
- Pioneer PRS-4100F
- DD S4 (my favorite 4-channel amp ever!) 200X2 and 100X2

I already no ill be using a JL 500/1v2 for my single w6v2 sub. I just need a good 4 channel amp that puts out between 100-125w rms x 4 for around $300, my budget is tight atm as you can prob tell.
