Default About to order sub and box..

I'm about to order the JL Audio 10W1v2-4 sub, but I want to make sure the ZEnclosure box will work efficiently with it.. I would be getting the corner mount sub box, here.

recommended air space is 0.625 cub.ft

box is 0.43 cub.ft

sub displaces 0.25 cub.ft

box isnt nearly big enough unless you reverse mount it

Crap.... what is reverse mounting?
And does that just mean the sub is too powerful? I don't want to lose more trunk space than that. Should I consider mounting in the driver seat cubby?

just get the single 10" zenclosure. that displaces .75cu ft. i have it with a 10w6v2 and its incredible. The sub needs enough airspace to create pressure which is the BOOM BOOM. it it doesn't have enough air, well it wont sound as good as it can.

think about it in terms of exhaust. If you have a single pipe exhaust, it can only move so much smoke whereas if you have dual pipes, it can move more efficiently creating more horsepower. on the other hand, if you have a huge 3" fart muffler, its not going to matter because the car doesn't need that big of tubing and therefore isn't as efficient.

if that confused you then just find a box that is around the recommended amount of airspace and call it a day.

absolutely not...it sounds like a$$

if your dead set on the location make a custom box that extends into the floor below the carpet line

reverse mount

The single zenclosure setup kills half of the trunk though, doesn't it?
I can't do that..

I'm not someone who cares about blasting bass, I am only getting a sub to get the lows since I'm losing full range from the stock system.
Would it be that bad to get the JL 10w1v2-4 and put it in the corner enclosure from zenclosures?

I was apprehensive about losing the trunk space too, but since I have had the understrut enclosure, I have found it isn't as bad as I thought. What are you going to haul around that you need the little bit of space under the strut bar? Whats great is that you can still attach your cargo net, so stuff won't be slamming into the subwoofer.

Are you dead set on a JL 10W1? Research other sub options that will work with the box?

I am not dead set on it, nope. Recommendations would be awesome actually..

I do need that bit of space under the strut - I carry guitars and keyboards in my trunk all the time, and without that space, it would be damn near impossible.. I'm already thinking it will be terrible losing that corner.

This sub will work with the enclosure space your working with and Memphis is a good brand IMO

Reverse mount baby!!
