Default Using just 1 VC in a DVC sub.

Is it possible to just wire up 1 voice coil on a DVC sub? If so would it sound horrible?

I guess what I'm trying to get at is my amp will push more power at 2ohms but I have two 4ohm subs and was wondering if I could skip a voice coil on each sub to achieve 2Ohms.

Just wondering, sorry if this question is completely retarded.

Thanks in advanced though!

theoretically, yes.

recommended? no.

the sub wont have enough power. what you can do is instead of running a lead (parallel) into each VC, do the wiring in series. so the wiring setup would be amp to +, then the wire from the - goes into the other VC's + connection then the negative goes back into the amp. this way, its 4 ohm.

what kinda sub and amp are you gonna use?? just wondering if its 2 ohm stable.

My amp is an Alpine 200 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (350 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)

My subs are two JL W3V2 4ohm

i take it as this amp is a mono amp. if thats the case, wire it in series like i have said before, it will give u 2 ohm rms. but with the JL w3v2 (what size) this is under what is efficient amperage.

i mean, it will work, but you wont be winning any SPL competitions.

and make sure you have enough free and clear space for the amp so it can breath since it will be running hot with it performing at 2 ohms

bad idea. It will cut the subs thermal power handling in half.
