Unhappy HELP Wiring Nightmare! Car broken into and wires cut

So my car (2003 G35 Coupe 6MT w/Nav) was broken in to and my entire radio/nav console was stolen. The thieves cut all of the wires connecting my factory navigation and radio harness wires. Fortunately, I had an aftermarket radio and the wires were cut on the radio side ( as opposed to the car factory harness side). Unfortunately, the wires for my navigation were cut on the car side (the plug for the navigation screen and buttons is gone), and all I have are like 20-30+ wires of varying colors. I need a diagram or manual so that I can properly reconnect my new navigation unit. Please help - I have searched the internet for days and have not been able to find anything useful. Thanks in advance.....

No, my Kenwood DDX radio, factory navigation, and a/c control unit were all taken in one piece- the bracket containing everything was taken.

HOLY CHIT

I feel for you man, that's insane. I really hope those bastards get what they have coming to them

Unfortunately the only thing I can think of would be to try and find a salvage vehicle with Nav. I've seen the screens and DVD units on ebay before. If you come across one of those auctions try to see if the seller has the wiring as well.

Best of luck to you bro.

How about letting your auto insurance take care of this. You are insured right?

The dangling wire is from my radar detector, which believe it or not, was not taken.

This is something, like Davidv said, which is best taken care of by the dealership, as getting OEM replacement parts will both be difficult and expensive as hell.

If I understand this, your best repair is done at the dealer. Your situation is about as bad as it gets.

It won’t make sense attempting to connect any of the “dangling/cut wires” by reattaching (soldering or connecting by any means) the cut ends. Any single mistake here potentially puts you into a nightmare of resolving a single bad connection or ground. The navigation component is tied to the car’s digital structure, so repairing this requires 100% accuracy.

Instead you need to move back to the first wiring-harness/feed that was not mutilated. That is a point that might be buried deeply within the car’s wiring, and is why you need the dealer’s help doing this.

Right now there are several items like this for sale on ebay.

This seller has a few or them:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-04...4506.m20.l1116

might not hurt to email them about the wiring

NPR just had a story how car stereo theft never happens anymore :/ Supposedly it's down like 60%. I think people's deductibles are so high, there's probably 60% less reporting. I havent heard of any place this isnt still happening. Seems like it's increasing if anything

The statistics do show a reduction on car A/V theft, but I believe the source you mention addresses OEM equipment. Here are some reasons for this theft-reduction (OEM equipment):
  • Many cars now come from the factory with “burglar alarms.”
  • OEM A/V equipment is often “printed/mated” to a chip in the ECU (in fact OEM A/V equipment displays information from the car’s ECU). That means installing a stolen unit in a different car won’t work without spending additional $$’s making the stolen unit very expensive and not worth anything when fencing.
Theft of aftermarket devices continues to be a problem. The most sought after item by thieves is a removable/transportable GPS device, followed by aftermarket double-din LCD H/U’s and SubW’s.
