Default Base 350z Stereo Speakers

i just bought a 2007 350z base and only 2 of the door speakers work. I think. When Move the fade to the rear there is no sound. But the Fade front has sound. Doesn't that mean the speakers are broken in the rear? Are they supposed to work?

My car is like that too, the rears barely do anything. The base speakers are trash, time to upgrade!

They might work, they just suck so bad you can't hear them. I replace factory speakers on a weekly basis, and these are some of the smallest, cheapest OEM speakers I've ever seen. I doubt the Bose upgrade is much better off either. Very few OEM receivers use aggressive highpass filtering, resulting in bass-induced distortion at high volume levels.

The speakers are not hard to replace, though taking the rear panels apart may make you nervous. 6.5"s all the way around. There's even a lovely spot to install amps in the compartment underneath the rear speaker housing. Just be careful about mounting depth on the fronts or your window will bottom out on the magnet. If you search around I'm sure you can find an illustrated guide on replacing them.

If music is a concern, do yourself a favor and buy some aftermarket speakers. There's hundreds of brands, and even the flea-market gear is better than the factory ones. You should be able to pick up good name brand ones for less than $200 for all four. Of course the extremely loud ones require an amp and a bigger wallet.

The best thing to with your rear speakers is fade them to “no sound.”

If you are not the original owner and not hearing any sound from the rears, I would guess that the previous owner simply disconnected these junk rear speakers (they are horrible and only pollute your sound).

mine do not put out much sound, and i bought my 07 new. when i took them out to put in my two subs i looked at the back of the rear speakers and found that they are 32 ohm speakers. they would have been louder if they were 8 ohm or even 4 ohm. I think they are only meant for ambient sound, not a center stage.

the bose and regular stock speakers both suck. If your looking for some decent sound upgrade...like others have said.

Default stereo question

are all 2006 350z stock stereos compatible with the steering wheel audio controls? the reason is cause i'm buying a stock stereo from a z that doesnt have the audio controls on the steering wheel and mine does have those controls on the steering wheel.

thanks,

if I swapped out my rear speakers for aftermarket coaxials.. say an average $40 pair of speakers. Would the speakers be louder (like the fronts) or would they be extremely low, just like the stock speakers.

^^ I put Infinity coaxial speakers (about $50 on ebay) in the rear speaker space. They were much better than the stock speakers. I do not have the Bose setup.
