^^ Yes you can do this with the AVIC D3. The device will send video out to a remote monitor using a composite video connector.

Its a great unit, what i have, great in the Z but a bit outdated. I would look into something with HDD navi as the DVD gets old real quick.

^^ I agree. DVD units are not what you want. In fact HDD's are lame now as well.

You want a Flash Drive based unit since it's more reliable and much faster than DVD's and HDD's.

^^ I'm repeating myself, but get a device that uses a Flash Drive. Do not buy a device that uses a DVD player or HDD. Buying the device with the best drive (a ROM-based flash drive) is more important than buying by brand.

Ya flash drive is easier to update your maps as well, i believe.

Buying new DVD's FTL.

What brand you choose is between you and the allmighty bro. Go google "in-dash double-DIN cd/dvd/nav head units" and take a look a what pops up. Pioneer is my brand of choice but there is alot to it and different tastes, so read all the specs on all units you look at and compare...even a novice can understand all the specs so dont sweat it. You will find most have close to same specs, so much of it will fall on which user interface you like best. THis is one reason i chose the D3...it has a great interface.

I got rid of my F90 and replaced it with the D3. I use Navi maybe 5% of the time so I don't always need the DVD in the slot. I have the high speed Ipod cable and its very fast (faster than the F90 or JVC 7000 units). Also, like GeauxladyZ said, its got a fantastic interface and the use is very intuitive and simple. Also, I like the screen better than the F's screens.

Old technology and outdated designs FTW!

Ya D3 interface is beautiful, even tho D3 is old, the interface still beats out many of the newest units, INCLUDING the new Pioneers. It is a GREAT unit and i have no desire to upgrade at the moment.

+1 on the ipod cable, i have it too for my iphone and it works great...just wish i could play vid from my iphone.
