Default Nav area: New Garmin 2610 or 2650

A new street pilot from Garmin (sept 03). Anybody has this? It's a touch screen and no bulky antenna. I am probably going to get it. Should fit nicely into nav area. Cost between $1200-$1400 retail. You can probably get it online between $800-$1000.

Size: 5.6"W x 3.2"H x 2.0"D

Yeah, its a very nice unit. I am really thinking about getting it. I like the ability of moving it wherever you want. Its just a lot of cash.
I'm looking forward to some reviews also.

I'm also considering getting this unit. I've been waiting for someone to reply regarding the fitment. The last time I looked, you can get it on ebay for $775. Anyone?

I ended up getting the Garmin iQue for about $350 w/ car kit. Does everything and more. Only thing is that you have to install the maps you're going to use, but its not a big problem. I drove from NJ to WA w/ all the maps i needed installed on one 256 MB SD card with room for MP3s.

I have the Garmin 2610 and it rocks. Theft is no problem, you just unplug it and throw it in the glove or trunk. Dunno if it will fit in the nav area, it's a bit bulky, plus the antennae is on the top of it and needs to sense the satellites through the windshield. Might work, but I just pop it on the dash, it sits snug on its little rubber pedestal, no prob. It works great, and you can move it to your other vehicle/s whenever. For a grand, it beats the hell out of 2.5K for an aftermarket nav system, imo.

I bought this since i drive two vehicles.

I used some weather stripping with a side that has sticky adhesive. I cut them in small 2 inch segments and put them in the nav area. The 2610 fits in the compartment like a glove. Doesnt move and you can pull it out easily.

However the issue as stated above is that the antennae is too weak for it to pick up the sat's easily. so i get a lot of lost satellite warnings.

To fix this, i ordered the external antannae from the garmin website.. Ill post up on how i set that up.

The product is great!! I bought mine at BEST BUY for 950 bux

Spud, I have a 2620, but I have trouble with satellite reception. Did the remote antenna work for you? I'm in Centreville, VA, I would like to see how you set your system up sometime.
