My $100 like OEM fit NAVIGATION setup
Alright. Received this in the mail today. Did anyone ever do a write up from removing the dash pieces necessary on the 2003 to actually doing the install? I just looked over the entire thread and only one pic works and it shows it fitting in the back of the cubby. How do you remove the cubby on the 2003?
Also, is 1.64 the newest Plenio software, it looks like it. I like the look of the Mio stuff, anyone had any luck?
3hree5ive0ero is near me and offered to let me make a copy of his last DVD but I need to figure out the rest of this first.
Thanks all.

Yeah, just let me know when you want to swing by to copy all the files.
I've taken apart that waterfall/center piece multiple times and it's really easy. Everything should be relatively effortless. Just make sure you take all the bolts out before pulling on anything.

Does anyone have a changelog, or photos, of the differences in the 1.62 and 1.64. Maybe even a link to any info on it? It looks like the OCN8 doesn't do the text to speech with Nav, which I'm not sure I wouldn't miss, but it also seems like 1.64 adds 4GB card ability, which may be a nice addition. I also noticed OCN 8.3 was out. Looks like this maybe was the last version. Does this work on our units?
Sorry to ask so many questions.

Also, so I am still not certain I guess what put doesn't get cut on a 2003 cubby. I am going to take this all apart this afternoon. On the 2003 are the back part of the cubby and the dash 2 parts instead of being all in one, therefore no cutting? I am trying to get this all planned before I get into it.
Also, anything on the aforementioned 1.64?

I was thinking if this is the case, the rear of the cubby unscrews from the front, I would use some 3M Double Sided Automotive tape along the front of the unit and stick it onto where the front meets the bezel on the center console.
I would like to thank the OP and any others that have contributed to this thread... it really inspired me, but having an 06 I tried to unsuccessfully source an 03 cubby with the correct "inside" door... Once I couldnt do that, I decided to go all out-ish and go with the 06 dash and $100 Magellan 1700. Could not be happier!
I also added leather seats (and head unit)... so excuse the interior changes and look at the dash lol

MONTHS worth of ebay searching... although I missed a sale on here by about 5 days. Ugh. Theyre out there though, used... or you can buy them new for something like $300 or a crazy amount like that.
They are also just for show, as you could probably imagine, since the GPS is touchscreen... but it literally looks 100% OEM, which is what I really wanted.

yea i just molded some thin aluminum and wrapped it in leather. there was no way i was spending 300 on replacement buttons to just be used as show. i guess the search is still on lol.
EDIT 01/04/10: Download OCN8 Navi software here
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B5NXJWYU
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2H1R6VSN
unzip and copy the files directly to you SD card.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is using a Plenio VXA-2100 GPS navigation and mounting it to the cubby.
Fits snugly & tight and works great! I modded the navigation software to use iGo8 instead of the crappy Smart2 navi system it came with. That's how i was able to use the NISSAN logo during startup.
Pics:

The navi is also connect to my JVC headunit which can play DVDs so whenever i want i just turn it on and i can use it a LCD screen as well!
This only works with Plenio VXA-2100 with external GPS antenna which i mounted it on the dash. The Plenio VXA-3000 is slightly bigger and will not fit into the cubby (i know from personal experience, i broke the unit trying to trim it to fit).

I just got one of these nib off eBay. Would someone mind pointing me to where I could find the OCN8 software? (Or maybe burn me a copy?) I found a torrent, but it appears to have no seeders.
Thanks!
Thanks!
PS - The megaupload link above is dead. All you get is a nastygram from the feds saying the site is shutdown. : (
