iSimple PXAMG Ipod Adapter installed in my '07 Z
Hello Everyone,
I finally bit the bullet and purchased/installed one of the iSimple ipod adapters from pac-audio. Installation was straight-forward (followed the wiki page for removing the dash). The interface provides control of the ipod/iphone from either the stereo controls or from the device itself (from device, song titles/text is disabled). If you have any questions about the install -- fire away.
Kind regards,
-RDR

Couple of questions
1. Does this charge the ipod/iphone?
2. Just out of curiosity, where did you run the ipod cable to? I want to install a screen in the cubby so obviously I won't run the cable there and as such I'm considering alternate locations to place the ipod. How long is the ipod cord?

1. Yes, this charges the iPod and iPhone 3GS. For the 3GS, the company I purchased from shipped the PXAMG with the updated cable to support charging the newer iPhone. Be sure to ask about it before you order (I bought mine from a company on eBay).
2. In order to connect an iPod/iPhone adapter you must remove the center console (where the stereo and cubby hole or nav system are located), which is very easy when following the FAQ on my350z. With the console out, I drilled a hole in the passenger side of the cubby hole using a step bit and used an appropriately sized rubber grommet to make the hole look like it was meant to be there (bought a grommet set on Amazon for ~15 bucks). Then I ran the cable from the cubby hole to the stereo as the iPod connector is larger than the PXAMG-connecting end of the cable; this way the cable has no chance of receding into the dash at any point. I keep my iPod inside of the cubby with the lid closed and use the stereo controls; my iPhone also fits in this space but it's easier for me to keep the iPhone in my pocket and leave the iPod in the car connected to the stereo. I'll have to snap a few pictures and post them.

Here is the walk-through for removing the stereo/console:

It was actually very easy to do provided you do not drop any screws when putting things back together (I have a feeling I was lucky here). I recommend using a magnet with your screwdriver to make things easier.
Cheers!
