Another Navi question
^^ Good question... Your 06 navigation is an OEM Clarion device. It works mostly independently of the Bose H/U except that it broadcasts voice guidance over the OEM Bose CES mated to the Clarion GPS.
The two systems (OEM Bose CES and Clarion GPS Navigation) use proprietary connections to provide an integrated system supporting voice guidance and operation. Notice that there is a configuration that also supports Clarion GPS guidance with OEM Clarion H/U’s with Clarion components.
The wiring diagrams that reveal Nissan’s connections for the Clarion GPS device are readily available. These show how you can connect anything to the GPS device and its display to accomplish A/V support.
The problem you have accomplishing what you ask about is the manufacturer’s structure protecting its configurations to achieve better profits.
I think the consumer is better served with an open-architecture that allows installing aftermarket products that compete with OEM installations. This insures the best pricing and the most versatile and best products.

Spike - thanks for your reply. Sorry it has taken awhile for me to acknowledge your post. Do you think a novice like mysself will be able to understand the wiring diagram well enough to make the mod to my system?
I’ve noticed posts from my350z.com members who have managed to connect the OEM Clarion Nav to aftermarket HU’s. Here is one example (he had an OEM Bose CES).

There are other examples that you can discover with a search (I hate telling members to search, but I believe in this case you will find some useful information… much more than I should just repeat here).

^^ I agree. The software here is a generic product that is modified by the entity licensing the product. It's used for many Forums (from cars to electroncis to even cooking forums!).
The search function is pretty basic. It looks for matches to a keyword you type into the search field. I don't believe (I could be wrong here) that it supports "And or X" or intersections very well. I try to keep my keywords as simple as possible (looking for matches in the messages), and that seems to provide the best search results.
I discovered the link I mentioned responding to your question by typing "9v" into the search field. That's very esoteric, and most people probably would not think of this a a keyword for the search you needed.

The OEM Bose is weird, and it uses less than 12v (it steps down to 9v). If you search on “9v”, you get information about Bose since the Z is often configured with both Bose and navigation. As I said, a search on “9v” is esoteric.
Incidentally, there is no advantage stepping down to 9 volts. This is something Bose does to keep their system proprietary. If I was purchasing a Z, I would avoid an OEM Bose since it requires a complete replacement to get good sound. It’s very simple to upgrade the OEM Clarion setup.
