^^ When you connected your new equipment, you inadvertently disconnected some existing grounds that resulted in disabling some of your car's electronics.

Did you put in an aftermarket radio? Did you hook up the illumination wire?

When checking fuses did you use a meter or just visually check them? Sometimes you can't visually tell a fuse has been blown.

Your problem is similar to what happens when you incorrectly hook up the dimmer wire when installing a head unit - if this is the case you should be able to disconnect the illumination wire and replace the fuse and be good to go.

^^ Good advice on the H/U installation. You understand.

When installing a new H/U, there are often questions such as:
  • What is this wire for?
  • Where should I connect this wire?
  • How come I have a “left-over” wire that doesn’t seem to connect to anything?

Aftermarket wiring harnesses make the job much easier, but they do not always blend perfectly to the OEM harness. They can only do so much.

There is no substitute for a Professional Installer who has seen many of the variations and knows what to do achieving a successful installation of complicated equipment.
