hey ppl, im about to put a dvd player onto my stock HU, is there any possible way to hook up the video and audio feed without using a FM modulator? any ideas out there? with the fm mod u need to tune into a specific channel to get the sound right? thats souds kinda ghetto to me. can i just do like a reverse line-out convertor into the speaker wires or something? or isnt there a stock cd changer plug on the stock HU? and if so, are there plug converts that i can use to get audio? the lcd screen shouldnt be a problem because they have a RCA video in. some ideas?
if you figure it out, let me know.
from what I had found when I researched, in all the radios there should be an internal amp, you need to tap into those inputs prior to the first amp, and that will work. I havent done it, or even tried it. too scared to open up the head unit. but it was a thought.
I believe we do have 2 FM settings tho. so perhaps you could set the 2nd FM setting to come onto the proper station so it was almost like the DVD sound setting. a little less ghetto...

If you get a good quality FM modulator, it will cut the normal antenna signal off while you have it turned on. Then the frequency setting you are using has no radio interference. Turn it off and the antenna is activated again.
Works fine for me.

I bought mine on ebay for about $32 including shipping. It's probably sold under more than one brand name, but mine is called "XOvision PLL Digital FM-Stereo Modulator RFM-70.
I wired a switch into the 12v power wire since it does not have a built-in switch. You definitely want to turn it off when you don't need it because when it's on it degrades the audio quality on regular FM stations. I put the switch in the front wall of the console drink holder compartment. The modulator fits nicely behind the AC controls under the Bose head unit.
I set button #6 on my Bose to the modulator's frequency. I did this for both FM 1 and FM 2 so it's a no-brainer.
I also wired in a mini-stereo jack for my iPod next to the switch while I was at it. The iPod can sit in the space right there while you are using it. Couldn't be much easier. See my former post for more info:

you're stuck with using a FM mod.
There are no adapter to use the CD changer input. I would not even suggest going into the HU and wiring up before the preamp. There is no such thing as a reverse line out convert. line out convert is a transformer, it steps down amplified signals down, so a reverse one would be an AMP (step the signal up) If you want to do that you need to get yourself a 4 ch AMP to connect the DVD and patch into the speakers (at that point might as well upgrade the whole sound system)
