Installed my CCD yesterday and the night vision is just awful...my Pyle CMOS was significantly better. Another thing I was disappointed by was the light output on the tag light (why did they make the light opening so much smaller than the CMOS version?).

Maybe they sent you a CMOS?

Does it have guides and was it around 90$ shipped?

My ccd is much better than the CMOS was as seen in my posted pics with the same hu

My CMOS was completely fuzzy at night so I would contact the seller.

Post some ccd vs CMOS pics if you have them.

Daytime picture is much more acceptable than night quality. Quality looks consistent with the CCD that have been posted. It is the CCD, no guidelines. I guess night picture isn't bad considering, but I was expecting at least a slight improvement over my Pyle cmos.

someone post a video, I would consider this camera but I am going to be running it all the time. I done want to buy it just for it to overheat and go out. Since I am going to be running it all the time I think the gridlines would bug me also

Well ccd doesn't have gridlines and it is not proned to overheating like the cmos model.

I just hooked it up a few days ago, so I can't speak to longevity. I washed my Z this weekend - the camera is in fact waterproof.

So are there any decent options out there that DO have gridlines?

This is like sophie's choice here. Good night vision and no overheating problems but no gridlines vs gridlines but poor night performance and overheating issues.

Is there anything out there with both of the pluses, and neither of the minuses?

You cant get any gridlines with the CCD. Our friends have a new MDX with a wicker rear view camera and it has gridlines.

Maybe Ill get a chance to get one off ebay and make it work with our cars, retrofit it into the ebay housing.

That may be the only way to get a good camera with gridlines

Im honestly not missing the gridlines on mine, i would rather have good night vision and approximate, the camera is there just for kicks anyways to see if there is a bike on the ground or something you wouldnt normally see. I wouldnt use it to park the car.

I now have this cheap eBay one with grainy display and grid lines. I prefer it greatly over my previous Audiovox model that had better resolution but no grid lines. I leave every morning for work in the dark and IMO, the quality of the cheaper one is more than sufficient for my needs.

I installed these LED's in my back-up lights several months ago, and the damn things are nearly as bright as headlights. Really helps the camera in the dark.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2x-31...item3cad3e98a2

These are dual brightness LED's, so what you need to do is re-bend the pins to make they come on at the higher brightness level. You need to short together the opposing pins on each side of the base. Just look at the original bulb and socket and you'll be able to figure it out.

I've also got the amber version in my signals, but resistors are required to make them blink at the normal interval. Those have been in place for more than a year, so I can safely say these aren't the typical low-quality Chinese eBay pieces, and seem much better than what I have previously used from superbrightleds.com, for example.

I just got a Kenwood DNX 6160 and I'm dying to install this rear camera. Looks like I'll be ordering the CCD for the new season! Thanks you guys for doing all of this research!

I'm not sure which camera I have but the picture quality is amazing. Plus it looks great. ;-)

Here is a picture in a parking garage that had pretty low light:

And one in the open (Although it was a cloudy day):

Stay away. I had 3 - the first died after 2 years. The second died after 1 week and was replaced free. The third died after 1-2 months.
