backup camera, new option...
The original one finally arrived maybe 10 days ago, and then the second one (from a different vendor) arrived the day after. Just got it installed last night, and it works great - actually a little better than the OEM rear camera in my wife's Acura TL-S.
Even though both cameras look identical externally, they are slightly different in operation. The second one has a blue grid, rather than yellow, and the noise is less in low light, but not by very much.

Im wondering if all his camera's have the back up marker lines...with the 1 , 2 , 3 indicators???
im thinking of getting this one for one of my other vehicles..

I just installed mine in place of my Audiovox camera. I can't pass final judgement until tonight when I see the image in the dark or Monday morning when I have to pack in the garage under lights.
So far, my only complaint would be related to the guide lines. See my attached picture for an example. The two lines on the ground behind my car represent the outside wheel track. The driver side is just outside the numbers but the passenger side is way outside.
I don't know if the shift is a result of the off center placement of the camera or not - I doubt it.
The things I really like are
1) Stealthy install. It's a lot less conspicuous than the Audiovox that I had.
2) Doesn't block the trunk release. Again, the center mounted Audiovox made accessing the hatch button a pain. I resorted to using the keyfob all the time.
3) Guide lines. Even though they aren't perfect, they do provide a good point of reference, especially when backing up in unfamilar surroundings.
FYI - my original install thread for comparison.. https://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-v...installed.html

Here are pics of mine, with the blue grid lines, and installed on the passenger side of the car. The images from the cam are a little washed-out, because the sun is low and shining directly on the lens, but I'm too lazy to move the car.

I guess it depends on which way you look at it. When I'm looking at the screen, the left side of the screen is the left side of the car. My HU does have a setting allowing me to flip it.
As it turns out, the camera does provide the correct orientation, but the switch on my HU was set to flip the image. Thanks, otherwise I might not have even thought to check that setting, as my Kenwood has so many layers of menus.
I went and looked at mine last night. If you flip it via the HU, all the numbers for the grid flip too.
Meh, im just gonna drill a hole or fab a bracket and use this one on my Xterra

It's only a little worse than my audiovox was. In general, this unit is slightly grainer than the Audiovox. I can still see the whole area that is illuminated by the Zs backup lights clearly and that's all that really matters.
im just gonna fab a bracket out of some plate aluminum, drill a hole in it and point it as needed......I mainly wanted the reference lines..thats gonna help the wifey...

Did anyone else have issues trying to plug the light socket into the new housing? Mine doesnt seem to want to fit at all.. the old one just slides into the 4 teeth and turn.. the one that I got from the eBay link doesnt want to be inserted at all, it looks the same size as the OEM housing, but it is not budging at all.
