backup camera, new option...
Well usps tried to deliver it today while i was at work, signature required so of course they didnt leave it.. heading to the lake this weekend so looks like i wont have time to pick it up till tuesday

haha jk man. have fun at the lake. and post updates once you get it
I'll be home Saturday, and I think I ordered mine the day after you, so maybe mine will show up. I may not get it wired, though, because I'm waiting for a new shift boot/shift ****/handbrake boot/handbrake handle, and I want to do all the interior work together.
well.. headed home from the lake a day early, and my agent (dad) was able to pick up the package from USPS, so I got a chance to test fit it tonight..
The fit is great! I didn't have time to wire anything up or see what the image looks like, but from test mounting it I think the angle should be good.

OK, here are some images from the camera. You can see a small bit of the bumper in the upper corners from the high angle lense, but not much.
The daylight performance is great. The line overlays look like they are in meters. I placed a hockey stick in line with the edge of the car to visualize where the lines fall. looks like they are a little narrow from the actual width of the car.

night video is usable. it was really hard to get a good picture of what it looks like. It is better than what my camera captures. it's a noisy video image so the picture picks up a lot more noise than what it looks like in person. The image looks black and white at night. The reverse lights do help with the image, and in this picture, the backup lights are on. That is why there are bright spots in the middle of the image.

Really happy with how it turned out! it really does look OEM!

It's a Magellan 1700 7 inch nav unit that I mounted in an 06+ nav center section. there's a picture of it back on the first page. It's a nice navigation unit with a good resolution (800x480). when you buy it Magellan gives you one free map update, so the maps are current. Also it will automatically switch to the AV input when it senses video, so by wiring the camera to come on when the car is in reverse, the nav unit will automatically switch to the camera, and then back to the map once im out of reverse. Other double din touchscreen radios with a backup camera input can work in the same way too.
1) So, did you just tap into the backup light circuit near one of the bulb sockets to power the cam? 2) How did you pull the video cable into the inside of the car - is there a grommet that's easily accessible?
