Has anyone tried the OBDII Scantool by scantool.net
Yes it works. It gives the standard data back ie. RPM, speed, o2 sensor, fuel trim and error codes. It can reset your MIL light. It doesnt do the things that the Consult II does as it also interfaces with the CAN (contoller area network) of the car. This cheap enough and will allow you to check and reset codes without going to the dealer. It can stay connected to your pc as this box will keep sending the stay alive commands once it is initiated.
Did you guys build your cables or buy them? I have access to one of the OBD-II like cables that I used with the VAG-COM VW/Audi software. This one will work right (I don't have my car yet or else I'd try it....).

I have one and am writting a java program to interface to it because... well that's what I do...
My only complaint about the scantool is the refresh rates are very slow, about 2.5 queries / second. So if you are thinking of using it as a performance tool, don't.
It's good for resetting / viewing diagnostic codes. And simple monitoring. And, it's a cool toy to have.

How much are these tools? Where can you get them? Where do you plug them into the Z? I have a laptop in my car and was thinking about doing something like this but have no clue about them whatsoever. Any help would be great. Sorry if this is a dumb question.
The ones above were from www.scantool.net but here is another one from www.obddiagnostics.com for $88. The software is not compatible with the others.
