Navi choice
Hey guys when i bought this Z it had the oem navi screen in place and the dvd behind the seat already installed but was missing the control panel buttons.
Would it be worth it to just find the control panel on ebay then plug and play? Or perhaps go another route... Currently a college bum so funds are tight. Any suggestions?

search for the buttons on ebay, here in the market place, etc..........they often pop up for sale,
yes should work no problem so long as all else is fine..........why was it gone in the first place???

Okay cool will do, thanks, and idk its hard to tell whether the guy before me just took the panel out or if he put the other two things in and didnt bother with the panel at all lol.
Thanks for posting the excellent pictures.
Obviously the previous owner swapped out the stock H/U for an aftermarket product.
The harness appears to be stock, but I’m not sure that the LCD screen is the stock navigation screen or an aftermarket 7” LCD.
The missing piece below the screen could be the stock navigation button console (if the car is equipped with Nissan’s stock navigation), or it might be a missing finisher part if the LCD is an aftermarket screen.
Did you get a Nissan navigation disk with the car? I ask because that might indicate the car’s stock setup included navigation. Nissan’s OEM navigation equipment is Xanavi (Xanavi is Clarion’s GPS division). Also, your Nissan dealer can confirm if the car is equipped with navigation.
If the car does have the stock Xanavi navigation, you will need the button console. A new replacement will be very expensive, and even one out of wrecked Z will be costly.
An alternative would be buying a finisher piece (inexpensive) to cover the hole, and using the LCD screen you have with a Garmin GVN 53 navigation “black box.” The GVN 53 supports NTSC/PAL displays (if the LCD is an aftermarket screen), or RGB if the screen is Xanavi OEM equipment or a CarPC LCD. The Garmin GVN 53 will probably cost less than buying the button console, and it is a superior GPS.
I realize that I’m not providing the help you need and wish I could give you better information.

Thanks so much for all this info.
The disc i found in this:

is a Navtec 6.3 Nissan/Infiniti. The Z is an 03 so perhaps an older edition disc?
I'm leaning towards your idea with the Garmin if its a bit cheaper to do. Only stock control panels i can find are on ebay for 150ish and their newer editions, not even sure if they would work.
Again i really appreciate all this help.

That is the stock Clarion Xanavi navigation device using a NAVTEQ map database.
The original buttons must have been damaged (a spilled cup of Starbuck’s latte perhaps?)
If you are able to locate the button panel, that might be worth trying. The downside is it might not work, and you are still faced with updating an old NAVTEQ disk if you want current maps, and the disks are very expen$ive.
