Radar Dectectors
Yes, it can be hardwired. I've had about 5 diff brands of detectors and the V1 is heads and shoulders above all the competition. It has saved my bacon many a times. I put about 30,000 miles a year on hwy & 15,000 miles on city traffic.
I hard wired my V1 and permanently mounted it to the rearview window mount using a bracket designed for a Corvette. The Corvette mount was a tip from this board so you can find the part number somewhere using a search. The installation took about an hour or so.
Thanks for the help, I will learn more every day.... Just picked up my Super Black Touring Roadster 6 speed, what a car. Had 8 miles on it. This is sweet, I will need the radar detector. I will see how hard it is to install. Ordering a Valintine One today.

I just got a V1 for my birthday. I thought I got a little antisocial on my motorcycle but the Z is really dangerous. I found myself running up the interstate a few Sundays ago playing around with ab Audi. We were running 105 and that was through downtown Denver. That will get you a stay in the county motel. Need to be careful. This car just wants to run!!!! You need lots of protection.
I personally have the Passport 8500 and love it. From all that I have read the 8500 and the V1 seem to fair about the same.
I hardwired mine in my roadster. The mirror has a plastic cover over its wires. The plastic cover come off so you can put the radar detectors wires in ther with the mirror wires - so you don't see but about an inch of wiring.
Be sure to get the remote sensor - I think V1 has one also.

It's not hard to hardwire it. You can use the power going to the rear view mirror or run the wire down the A-pillar and into the fuse box.
The remote is a smaller less conspicuous unit that you attack to the regular one with the V-1 setup.

I never did the mirror thing but it shouldn't be hard. You don't need to solder anything, just strip the wires and slice them together.
I did mine into the fusebox. Used the cig. lighter fuse for it.

I also have the Passport 8500. I save my butt on a road trip to Waco a few weeks back. Got sick of sitting behind slow traffic on a 2 lane highway so I dropped it into 4th and next thing ya know I'm taking out 6 cars at a time doing 110. If I didn't have that detector the cops would have my car by now.
i got the Escort Solo2, it's wireless, (runs on batteries) i have 2 cars and needed something that i can easily move from car 2 car
works great, not had a ticket since, saved me a couple of times
