Pioneer P4300DVD Install Issue
Bit of background info before the questions I have.... I am hooking up a P4300dvd and have connected a 4 channel amp and a Mono amp. When I turn accessory power on, the head unit does not turn on but the amplifiers do.
2 questions:
1. I did not fully reassemble the dash i.e. the top plug behind the oil pressure/voltage/info gauges is unplugged. Would this cause a problem with the grounding of the CD player? I grounded straight into the harness, not an external ground.
2. If a headunit doesn't turn on why would amps turn on?

Assuming the amps aren't powered through the head unit? When I installed my KenWood when I plugged everything in it wouldn't turn on. Took it out double checked the wires and everything was fine, not sure if coincidence but this time I plugged it all in and made sure the Antenna was plugged in and it worked perfectly.
That is what I was thinking as well, didnt want to discon it from the harness until I heard back.
The other thing that makes me a bit nervous is I am only connecting to one factory plug, compared to the 3 that connected to my bose headunit. I would imagine that the remaining plugs were for the bose setup?
The only wiring that I connected were accessory, power, ground, and illumination. Seems right in my head as I don't have a power antenna, eventually doing the DVD bypass so I didn't splice into the ebrake (terminated the connection for now - bc I really have no need for DVD), and all speaker connections are via RCAs.

Fixed. I regrounded it to the bolts by the shifter, but no luck. I reinstalled everything including the top plug by the gauges and it worked perfectly. Guessing that harness up top has somethign to do with the center console power.
