DVD issue
I have a pioneer avh-p4000 I installed and I can not figure out what is wrong with it. I bought the iPod cord for it and my iPod shows up when I plug it in but no sound plays and when I put DVDs in i can hear the audio but not see the video I already did a bypass for the DVD to work without a parking brake. Somebody please help
I have a Pioneer unit, slightly different model but I didn't by-pass the parking brake and the dvd works fine. Maybe you shouldn't be by-passing it. Thing is it sounds like you didn't by-pass it correctly as thats what they do when you play a dvd with out the parking brake on with out the by-pass
300 views and ^that guy has given me the only advice?
come on guys if anybody has any good ideas please let me know. and the parking brake override is done right i put the exact same headunit in my buddies gti adn overrode it the same way and he had no problem

So… The device is installed correctly but is not working as it should.
1. Could it possibly be defective?
2. Did the device work properly when you performed your pre-installation tests?

It sounds like you have the by pass done backwards. The unit thinks the parking brake is never on in stead of always on. You really haven't given anyone enough info to help you. That's probably why the lack of responses.
You said: “ i took it out of my friends gti and it worked when i took it out.“
It would be helpful if you described exactly how you conducted your pre-installation testing (i.e., “bench testing”). Of course, it is foolish to install equipment that you did not test beforehand.
You also said: “i heard the the wireing harness adapter has a wire that needs to be moves but i dont know what wire”
I’m sure that anyone knows this.

what other testing should i have done everything worked when i took it out of the other car and the bypass is fine i get past the screen telling me you cant watch a movie while driving and all of that. what more information should i be giving you?
^^ It’s unwise to assume equipment is fully functional after you pull the devices from an existing installation. Before doing a re-install when swapping equipment, you should always do a full bench-test. Without the bench-test and if the equipment isn’t working correctly, you don’t know if it a problem with the device or the installation.
Since the device powers up but lacks feature-execution, it's most likely a problem with the way you connected the wiring, or the harness you are using.

If it was working 100 percent in his car why would I need to test it I low it is a Wireing problem I am trying to figure out if any key else had a similar problem with this unit
I used a switch to ground the exact same way as it was bypassed in my friends car and it worked. I don't know the name for the iPod cord but it is the one that controls the iPod out of the headunit. And I believe it was a Scosche harness adapter I can get passed the screen saying it is illegal to view a video while driving but for some reason the screen is not turning on
