Default Help adding aftermarket unit with factory BOSE

Help help help! I need some advice! I have a 2004 350z non-nav with bose stereo. I am looking to add an addition to my radio. I want to keep the stock bose radio and add the aftermarket in the cubby part above the radio. I plan on adding the cubby from the 03 model because it allows a 7 inch monitor to fit there and also the door opening is much better than the 04. I am thinking to add either the pioneer app radio 2 SPH-Da1000 or the Pioneer AVH-P4400BH because I want to add, bluetooth, xm, nav, and backup camera. I was wondering would this be possible because the stock bose 6-cd changer does not have an aux button to switch between inputs and i would like to retain my bose sound system as well. Is it possible to add a switch that would allow the music from the aftermarket radio to play trough the factory radio without sacrificing the bose sound system?

You could probably search for this.

But since no one will respond to you (except me obviously), you will have a huge headache doing what you are thinking about.

Get rid of the bose head unit and get a different one all together (search for proper install instructions in this forum). If you are still using CD's you should get with new tech.

Thanks for the advice! I was thinking about doing that but if i swapped out the bose can i still use the factory amp with the speakers? I love the sound system in there now and wouldn't want to lose it

For factory amp you need to buy another piece, I do not remember what it is called (even though when I did mine I searched, found the item and installed it).

I installed a Kenwood unit in place of the Bose without changing anything else out. System works!

I replaced the head unit with a Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD using the PAC-ROEM NIS2 adapter, keeping the OEM Bose amp & speakers. The overall sound quality was great ( at least for me ).

What OP is trying to do is something different. Keep stock Bose HU and install aftermarket in cubby. Hmm, you will need real audio gurus to chime in. Sorry I am not one of them but there is one thing I know for sure. There is not enough deph in the back of the cubby compartment to accommodate at least the headunits you mentioned. You would need to do lots of fabrication and in the end even if you succeed, the desire to keep the stock appearance would vanish. Not worth it

IMO having a 2nd radio would be overkill and destroy the factory look that you wanted. a good suggestion would be a monitor in place of the factory monitor, and have a hide away unit for your external hookups and gps. you'll have to make the harness to connect to the bose unit outputs to the amp though. i went with the Pioneer p8000bt and connected it with the metra harness (one with RCA's) and have factory nav. it looks factory except the blue color vs the orange but i'm going to fix that soon.

The Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD can be customized to virtually any color. Some other Pioneer units have that capabilityies too.
