Default Audio issues, need some help!

Hey guys, I just installed a new head unit on my 04 Touring. I kept all the stock Bose speakers (which I hopefully will be replacing sometime in the future). The radio is working, but the sound sucks. At high volume, the sound gets distorted...something's up.

I used the Metra 70-7551 wiring harness. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_details

After some research today, I found that I could have also used the PAC ROEMNIS2.

Should I get the PAC, will this fix my issue?

its the speakers....replace them and you will be fine, prolly the extra power to the speakers thats distorting the sound

depends on what setup you run...if you just replace them with new speakers then no but if you go with a full component setup then yes

its not the speakers. I just put a new hu in with the stock bose speakers and the same thing happened. My buddy that helped me install the unit spliced the RCA's to up the input frequency and on volume level 9 it is ridiculously loud and not distorted at all. I am not 100% on what he spliced but u know he opened the RCA wires. I will see if I can't get you some info from him

Yea man, i'd appreciate any info you could get me. It's weird, I had this head unit in my last car and I never had to put the volume up over 30. Now I put it in my Z and I have to put the volume up to 30 to even hear anything. Then once I hit 40 everything gets distorted. I can listen to music at 35 without too much distortion, but it's very low volume.

Might just go for the PAC instead of the Metra kit to see if I have any better luck.

No problem. I will see what I can get for you but if may be hard to put the schematic into words. I think people use the PAC with luck for thus issue also. Crutchfield has them pretty affordable.

Yea understandable. I ordered the PAC, hoping it will fix the issue. Can't wait to take everything apart just to change the wiring harness

Anyone else have a similar issue using the Metra kit?
