Default Valentine V1

Hey, i did a search and didnt find anything here, i was wondering what people thought. Im not concerned with the price but is the Valentine V1 really the best radar detector out there? How is the V1 one compared to the escort 9500,8500 or solo s3?

Any recommendations would be great im just looking for the best radar detector, price isnt really an issue i do have a 450ish 500 max though

i have one. it does the job. get a used on on CL. there's a serial number on them. if you buy it used be sure to get that number and run it on V1's website to see what version it is.

but if I were you i'd also purchase a laser jammer in the process

Escort redline has best distance and stealth to RDD. Valentine 1 has arrows and boogey counter which is priceless. I love them both dearly along with laser interceptor and cheetah gps mirror...ohhh and some VEIL

Buy valentine 1 direct and not on craigslist. Get the warranty and latest model with new firmware and hardware. Get the refurb which is just the return model for customers who returned within 30days. The repackage it and discount it along with updating to latest software.

call direct and it should be $359 instead of $399

V1 blows. I had one. Sold it. Bought an Escort 8500. One of the best decisions I ever made for my car.

if you were to change from valentine to escort, then why not go with the 9500??

Too expensive.

Beltronics Vector 995's are the same if not a little better than the Escort 8500's.

Your V1 was either very, very old our defective.

I own a lot of detectors and my V1 3.864 is more sensitive than my S7 8500x50 and my M4 9500ix, and my M4 995, and my S7 SRX.

The only belscort product with better sensitivity than my V1 is my M3 STi-R. (and that's only on Ka band. Used to be all bands before it wa serviced)

Belscort has left V1 in the dust feature wise with all the GPS stuff, but the M3 platform is the only thing belscort has that detects radar better than the V1.

Even then, the V1 has an edge in reactivity and response time. (Although some of the newer M3's offer programing options to improve both of those issues)

Ive been using it for a little more than a week now and it really is sensitive, I had a beltronic before but i like this better. The arrows are awesome. I wanna use the Logic filtering modes but idk if i can trust them since im tired of hearing it everytime i pass a bank fast food place or anywhere with auto doors

Only real complaint I have about the V1 is it runs relatively hot. Dunno if other ppl experience the same thing, but in TX summers when it gets to 100+ weather, I'm a bit concerned about the V1 overheating.

the v1 does get very hot. mines mounted near the top of the windshield and it operates fine. you dont need to worry about the heat.

I've had a Valentine for 6 years. I bought the rearview mirror mount/power cable online so it is very clean looking. My V1 is priceless with many saves. It's especially handy with all the damn speed cameras popping up here in Maryland. The V1 gets hot but that is normal.

Right now I'm replacing my old LPP laser system with a brand new high power Laser Interceptor system.

I have an escort 8500 x50 and I don't like it. Not once has the unit ever warned me about a speed trap. I've actually passed a cop aiming his speed gun right at me and it didn't go off. I purchased it brand new a few months back. Wen I called to tell them I didn't think it worked they said go to a department store and see if it beeps. If it does then it works. So I did and it does beep near the door of a Macy's but that's not necessarily where I need it to work. I called them back and they said that it probably just isn't picking up the signal of what the cops are using in my area.
I would say for the $300 plus I paid I could odd oF done better things with my Money. Oh well. Lesson learned. Not like I speed anyway.
