Default My projected build ordered, need advice

I purchased my Z less than a month ago and already can't stand the HU on it so I decided to run to Best Buy and place an order on a new HU and speakers and plan on adding a sub later on when the money isn't so tight, however, do you think I should have just kept the stock speakers instead?

Currently, I purchased a Kenwood DDX771 and 2 pairs of Kenwood KFC-P709PS and I plan on just disconnecting the factory sub for now. Please give me your thoughts.

It's not plug and play. The Bose system runs at lower ohms than most systems.

First of all, almost any new pair of speakers will blow away the stock bose speakers. The new speakers will likely want a much higher RMS than the stock bose speakers tho, so the stock amp would likely not power them properly and perhaps cause damage, but more than likely just sound crappy.

I'd run your new fronts right off the new HU and bypass the bose amp all together until you can buy a decent speaker amp that matches your speakers RMS when you can. Then run the sub and amp separately as well when you get there.

Or just save until he can do the whole system

There's no way I can go without the features of an aftermarket, I need the integration for my phone and my iPod. This car is only my summer ride and can sink more money into it during winter so I can go the route of adding an amp and sub later on while for now just replacing all 6 speakers

You can buy adapters for an aux. input. But as far as I know, the only way is to match the lower ohm rating of the Bose system.

That’s a good start. You of course gain many features with the new H/U, and your new speakers sound much better than the Bose setup.
  • I would disconnect all the Bose stuff (amps, rear speakers and Bose SubW).

  • You can use the existing wiring to the front door when swapping out the Bose components for your new Kenwood speakers.

  • Connect the fronts to your Kenwood’s H/U internal amp. The H/U has adequate power to drive your front speakers. For now the only speakers you want to connect are the new front components.

  • The Kenwood tweeter may not fit the Sail Panel (the stock tweeter slot). That’s not a problem. You have other mounting options. I put my tweeters in the A-Pillar (That does require additional wiring, but it’s simple to do.).

I was worried about the tweeter not fitting. Is this common? I wanted to utilize the stock location just because of the discrete look. Also need opinions about my head unit, I received the DDX771 today, but found a great deal on an open box for this Pioneer with GPS.

Here are the two:

vs.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/pioneer-...1002&cp=1&lp=1

At first I wanted a 7 inch screen, now I don't mind, I like how the Kenwood has the USB in the back and I can fish it up to the cubby above and keep my iPod there permanently, any input?

EDIT: Forgot to say, I had the Kenwood price matched to 350 from 499 and could get the Pioneer for 400, so price difference is minimal.
