Default Who Be Bumpin a 10w6v2 out there?

I currently am considering my stock location vs. the hatch - I like stock and stealth- so the bose location seems good - except for optimum sound- WHICH SUCKS!!! I feel like Ralphy's Dad as he working on the furnace.

I do remember a pic of a guy with a sick ported enclosure for a W6 in the stock location- but can't find the damn thing anywhere. Anybody Seen It?

Does anyone have something new that isn't posted yet? I am interested in all applications in regards to this sub and install location.

The set up up front is Jl Xr650csi and xr650cx running on Eclipse 800.4
The sub will be powered by Phoenix Gold Octane R8.0:1. I should have enough high and mid power to still get some decent range of volume with the sub before I break a vertibrae or puncture a lung with my rib.

Any help is greatly appreciated..... thanks

That's nice and stealthy. Where did you get that enclosure made of? I was thinkin about JL Stealthbox which has 2 10" subs, but I don't need 2 subs. So I'm thinking of putting 1 10" JL sub just like yours. How much did it set you back to get that sub box?

I do all of my own work, so see this thread, for how I built the enclosure myslef...

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=20371

Originally, I used a JL Audio 10W6, but decided to go with a 10W6v2-D4, and had to make some changes, plus I added the JL grill to protect the woofer, when I go golfing...

It wasn't expensive to make, like $60-75 worth of materials, but about 2 weeks worth of time in a cold garage in the middle of winter, not too fun ! Overall, I am very happy with the look and sound of the enclosure ...

Oh heck, I'm not at all familiar with that kind of complex job. Nor I don't have any place to work on them either.
Sigh..maybe I'll have to get someone else to make it instead..
Well, great job! I love your setup!

there was a guy in California that was doing a group buy on a stealth box several months ago...I think his nick was zland. See if he has anything left, or can still get the box, his was nicely designed, but will NOT hold a 10w6v2.

how does a single 10w6v2 sound compared to say, a pair of 10w0's?

I understand that the w6's sound significantly louder/cleaner?

Would there be that much difference between a JL 10W3 and a 10w6v2? I currently have a single 10W3 and have been considering adding a second one, but I could upgrade to the 10w6v2 and use the same box. Any thoughts?

10W6V2s are nice, but I think the W3 is just amazing, and its probably hard to compare a w6v2 to a w3. Two W3s ? With 2, you better consider tightening the screws, bolts, or anything else that is not firmly welded in your Z on a monthly basis...I htink 2 properly setup 10W3's would just be mindblowing in this car--on hte other hand, I can't imagine anyone needing more than 1 10W3.

Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, I'm still not sure what I want to do. I need to upgrade my amp first, as I am under powering the 10W3 I have now even though it still sounds really good. It's just one of those things where I've had the same stereo setup in the car now for a year and half and would like to spruce it up a bit. I'm happy with my HU and the rest of my speakers.

I really like the design you have for your sub. Hmmmm, maybe I have a similiar one built that can allow first my 10W3 and then later allow a clean swap out with a 10W6v2 since the dimension they require are nearly identical.

Having owned JLAudio subs since '96, there is a big difference between a W3 and a W6v2. The W6v2 is deeper than the W3 and the dimentions are not the same, neither are the specifications for an enclosure. My brother has 2 10" W3s in his truck, I have 1 10" W6v2 in my car, he will tell you first hand who's hits harder. (mine) W3s are good subs, but when compared to a W6v2, there is a difference. Not only on price but in quality.

1 10"W6v2 will out peform 2 W3s - when i was getting my sysem installed we tried 2 W3 and compared it to 1 W6v2. The difference was noticable. It was amazing how 1 W6v2 was louder and crisper than a W3. And a W3 is a very good sub.

Thanks for the feedback! Are you just running the 5th channel of that JL amp to the sub? If so aren't you underpowering it at 250watts? I only ask because if it sounds as good as you say and you are still not pushing it that hard, there leaves room for even great improvement with some more power.

Are you going to the Dallas Auto Show meet this Saturday? If so, I'd love to hear your system.

On the subject of JL sub comparisons... Would there be significant differnce to go from an 8" JLw7 to a JL 10w6v2d4 sub?
