Default Focal Utopia

Hi, are the Focal Utopia an extremely good choice for speakers in the Z.
How about the quality?
Are they the best that money can buy?
I would buy 4 pieces for front and back beside the seats.

I have no idea how good the Focals are, but I'd love to compare them with my MB Quarts.

I have older Focal 6.5s in my Z (F&R). I love them. But I'm not an audiophile. I have a mid-range system in the car and the Focals are the most expensive piece in it. Laff. Focal Utopias are serious speakers - and the cost reflects that. If you're building a system around those, suggest you pair with really good components otherwise as good as they sound, paired with cheap HU, amps, etc. won't do them justice. But the thing I'd be most concerned about is the fit. Rears not too much of a problem but those Utopias are very deep and probably won't fit the stock door locations (which require a pretty shallow speaker/magnet.)

Something else to consider, if you're willing to put the money into Utopias and want the best setup, suggest you look at doing a component setup.

Are the Focals the "best that money can buy"? No, probably not. It depends a lot on what you determine to be the best. If you're that serious, you NEED to go to a shop that does high end audio and LISTEN.

dkmura recommends MB Quart. Good choice as well. I've built a home system around those in the past (long time ago). They are reasonably priced (s'far as "good speakers" go) and are very clean. I think I prefer my Focus setup based on bass response; but again, I have no direct comparison in the car.

I have Focals and love them. Not the best you can buy, but high-end and they sound great. As you push towards the high-end, the difference gets less noticeable. You won't be disappointed with Focal speakers.

Took a look at these Focals at Crutchfields and was astounded at how expensive they are! High end speakers have moved way up the retail scale since I purchased my MB Quarts. Despite this, I remain pleasantly surprised at how much the sound improved with just a good set of front separates provided with clean power from a good amp.
