Last question for those that have this unit.

When you turn the lights on does it change the brightness on the NAV screen? Here is a link of what I am talking about.

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...180326,00.html

The reason I ask, is the installer said it didn't work in my car for some reason, WTF?

Does anyone else's NAV change brightness when you turn your lights on?

If so, whats the fix for mine? I must have some ghetto a$$ installers in Colorado Springs. This crap is pissing me off, literally.

I paid $50+ an hour for professional installation, but it looks like I got DUFUS-ALISM installation.

Charles wonders if Dufus'Alism is a word.

It wont work. This has to do with the way Nissan wires thier stereo's. There is probably a wire for the brightness on your head units harness, but no corresponding wire to hook up to in the factory harness. Sorry. If you want it to work it will take some custom wiring if you can figure it out.

I found this out when I installed a head unit in my Frontier.

zand,

where did they put the box that comes with it and where did they mount the gps antenna? I'm about to install mine this weekend and I got no clue where to put either of those.

I was thinking that the box should go under the passinger seat but i haven't the slightest idea of where the gps antenna goes???

any info would be helpful!

BTW, anyone know any way around this dimming issue? how to tap the dim wire? I would check out the shop manual but i left it at school

They put mine under the passenger seat, easily accessed if I want to plug and play (Playstation, ect).

They had a hard time finding the speed wire. Its behind the A/C controls in a white box. Its the white wire, FYI.

The GPS antenna was first mounted on the rear strut bar, but I didn't like it there so I placed it directly in the middle of the dash centered in front of the digital guages. There is a square there and it fits perfectly.

Not sure about the dimmer lights, the installer didn't have a clue, Figures!

Anyway I am still waiting a call back from the stereo shop, my car cannot be driven until the DAMN heater core line is replaced, and the dang dealer does not have one in stock.

I don't think its the white wire... I believe If my memory serves me correctly, it was the green striped wire.. I'll check my SM and get back to you.

hmm, I'll have to check with the installer tomorrow on that.

I am getting no NAV voice at all. Everything is setup correctly and the dealer does not know.

Any suggestions as to why I have no NAV voice? BTW, my DVD has sound when I play a movie.

The dealer is calling Pioneer tomorrow about this.

interesting, I have no idea why you don't get a nav voice....

there has to be a dimming line though, i think your installer was just too lazy to find it. i'm saying this because I just went in my car and played with the dimmer buttons and the stock head unit dims with all the interior lights so that means that tere is a lead to it you just gotta check out the shop manual. since i'm a dumbass and i left mine at my house at school, anyone else got one handy?

as far as the speed wire, someone did a detailed thread on how to tap it, look a few pages back in this post and you can find it.

the extra box has an input? I could plug in a playstation???!?!?!?!
whaaaaaa?

Default I HATE STEREO SHOPS!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I am pretty sure you can plug your playstation through there.

I am still wondering why I have no NAV sound. Could it be that they didn't connect my speaker lead wire?

I spent all day at the stereo shop as they fixed my heater core line.

I leave at 7 p.m. and the MF's didn't fix it, they didn't patch the hole where the screw came out of, they only patched the hole where the screw entered, WELL DUH!. So I had to turn around and leave it overnight< AGAIN.

After inspecting the car today, I noticed, the stereo shop scratched my door jam with 4 deep scratches, The installer broke one of my digital guages, he said he glued it back, and there is about a 1/2 gallon of antifreeze in my floorboard that has soaked through the carpet.

And last but not least, the IDIOTS broke my vent that is down by the accelerator.

And my passenger seat is stained in TWO places. As I am speaking to the manager venting my frustration with this entire ordeal, a young installer comes by and puts his greasy hand and starts leaning on my car. I am like, hey man, do you mind????

I am so fricking pissed it is not even funny.

BUT, the dealer did say they would hardwire my Valentine 1 for free, WTF

The manager said he would fix everything and even replace the broken vent. WOOPTY Frickin Doo,

Hey Manager, if your listening, how about fix my CAR, the right way, and wire the Navigation the correct way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't pay you $200 to FUKC my car up!!!!!!!1

damn, that sucks man

if someone did that to my car...let's just say i'd be in jail a few moments later...

a dealer that shall remain nameless was changeing my oil and i watched the mechanic A) put in regular nissan oil even though i brought a case on mobile synth, then B) rip the plastic covering the oil filter in half. i took a picture of him doing it with my pocket cam and showed it to the dealership manager. the ****er told me that it was standard procedure.... I acted all cool and walked outside to a Z that was for sale on the lot and reached under and ripped off the plastic...he screamed as I went on to the next one...let's just say I got a free plastic piece and he offered free oil changes for life...i told him to go **** himself, never ever going back to another dealership in virginia! good salesmen, awful service!

BTW, zand check your PM, I had a question about the avic install

I have a question for you folks that have this unit?

My settings never get saved. For instance my beep volume has to be turned off every time I start the car. Nothing seems to save.

My background picture I had stored didn't save either.

Is this a wiring issue? Thanks to anyone that can help me.

Also mine came with Version 1.0.

Version 1.1 is already out. Shouldn't I have gotten version 1.1?

I bought it on line at etronics.com

i am a G35 coupe owner!
i have avic n1
let see if i can help u guys out~
ok..zand02max ....they didn't do a good job at all for ur install!
i have the dimmer when i have my headlights on!
looks even better then daytime view!
g35 has same wires as 350z i guess...so they miss the wire or
didn't know what they are doin...i don't think it is hard to find that wire! also every car has a dim wire to their headunit already!
so that when u turn ur light on ur stock HU screen will dim!
everycar has it ..just they don't know what they are doin!
try follow the menu to install the wallpaper again..it should work
or may be ur wallpaper size too big ..try a different pic
it is bad to hear how the installer mess ur car up
u pay $200US for it too! i pay $200CAN ..hee hee
they did a perfect job!it took them 2 days to finish the job..
they were so careful to take apart my dash

SEzzz.. if u are not gonna have a camera at the back of ur car..
u don't need to hook up that wire ..if u do
u may need to extend the wire!
i didn't hook mine up..cos i don't use it..don't spend time to run the wire if u don't use it!

last is the speed wire..
it is the wire with a green and white colour on it!
u can find the wire on a unplug plug which content 4 wires only !
the plug it locate behind the dash!

not sure about dvd-rw, but definetly dvd-r's. and yes you can scan in seperate folders that contains upto nine seperates branches and up to 552 files (which is perfect for cd-r's). and you can ff through the files also. and you can do all of the functions mp3/xm radio/radio while using the memory navigation.

Jus ground the parking brake wire. You can watch movies while moving.

You don't need a separate tuner or cd player. That just helps so you don't have to pop the Nav disc out to play a CD.

Recomendation would be to buy a 6 or 12 disc cd changer. The 6's fit eaaily in your cubby hole behind the driver/passenger seats.

GL!

Yes, you can I have 6-disc Pioneer Changer, listen too CD's and still have the NAV work. The NAV will work without the disc, however, it doesn't work for too long. You lose a lot of features.

Worked perfectly on my latest road trip.

Someone with an AVIC-N1, please read my post about the GPS antenna mount.

If you have your GPS antenna mounted above your center console or have engine noise, please read my post, thanks.
