Default Custom install for stock sub location w/pics

I didn't like how it was sounding with the empty compartment behind the sub to i decided to seal it off. Also dynamatted the rear hatch area. It sounds much better now. Here's some pics:

the box was filled with great stuff around the edges and bottom to give it some substance. Eventually I dynamatted the entire compartment.

Is that a 12? BTW Nice. Few more questions.... How much Dynamat did you use? And how much was it? I'm using this Thunder Mat stuff off ebay that is working pretty well. I must say that yours look much cleaner then mine does. I had to cut little strips so I could get down in all the groves. Did you pull the carpet and get under there? In doing that the road noise dramatically decreased. Seriously nice job!

I bought the dynamat from Etronics.com. Bulk pack (30 sq.ft.) 150$ delivered. It came the next day, they are quick. It ended up being just the right amount I needed, right down to the sq inch! I did pretty much from the rear speakers all the way back and the entire sub compartment. It is not that hard to install but takes time! I worked all day from 9 am to about 12 midnight. I'm a little disappointed that i still hear alot of road debris (gravel and sand) in the rear. I bought some vb-1x for that though, that will be my next project. Anyway, you asked about the rear carpet. Ya, you have to remove pretty much all the paneling.

That's a pretty good price. Let me know how the vb-1x stuff works out. I'm guessing that is a spray on product?? As for the carpet, I was referring to the removal of the seats and pulling the actual carpet off the floorboard. Once I did that, BIG difference. That is easily something you can do at a later date.

How much does the xtreme dynamat weigh? I can get .5 lb/sq foot second skin for 40 sq ft for $162 delivered and was gonna use that instead...

Default This is where I had my problems

This looks great!! When I did this I had the hardest time getting my apline on the bracket. It looks like you made an additional wood bracket to attach the speaker to, then attached the two brackets. Is that correct? Could you give a detailed account of the creation and mounting of this second brackett. Also if you could take some closeup pics of it it would be great. I thought about adding an additional bracket but I thought the speaker cover wouldn't fit therefore negating the stock look.

240DRIVEN,

That is friggin' sweet. How does that sound without a separate box?

How difficult was this to do?

I'd like to get a custom bracket for dual 8" subs for that compartment.
