Low prices
Not sure if you're still looking at the AVIC-N1 but the best prices I've found are at nextag.com. Here they list the least expensive vendors selling the avic-n1. The cheapest as of Aug 18, 2004 is $1484.95 including shipping at WellsDigital http://store.yahoo.com/wellsdigital/avicn1.html
The AVIC-N1 is my choice and I will likely buy within the next 2 months.
I like the combo of Nav, MP3, DVD, etc., and the flip out screen is very nice. I'm going to have to figure out how to out-smart the emergency brake sensor which doesn't allow the DVD to engage unless the parking break is on. Have you figured this out?

I love my AVIC...you can buy the components seperately, but it's a lot more expensive. the touch screen is great, awesome nav, and quite easy to install. I do get a little annoyed having to switch out the mp3 disk to use nav, but it's minor.

Same. I love it. I found it a little un-nerving driving to a place that I had no idea were it was and just listening to the unit telling me were to go. It has been dead on every time.
I love having the G meters on the vehicle dynamics and taking clover leafs off the freeway, or hard accelerating and watching them go up. Very cool.

Before I sold it I thought about buying a cd changer to solve this problem. You can add a changer but a regular changer will only play audio cd's and a dvd changer was just too expensive.
I now have the Kenwood DDX7015 in both my Z and Tundra. I'm planning to add the nav to both as soon as I find a decent price. I'm completely satisfied with my new setup.
Good luck.

AVIC-N1 is everything you need.. the NAV is definitely dead on.. and for those who are complaining about having to take out their music discs to put the NAV disc in, just do what i did: put in a single DIN CD/DVD/MP3/TV tuner, and you will never have to take out the NAV disk.. just my two cents..

Love mine so far. I have a 6-disc CD changer so that solves the whole popping out the NAV disc.
Love mine so far, no problems. Only thing I wish it had was local Police numbers and local home telephone numbers, where you type in the home # instead of the address.
My speed wire says its disconnected however the speed works while driving. hmmm.

You should make sure the speed wire is connected. It will be able to compute your speed through gps, but it has limitations on accuracy. You'll notice certain features aren't enabled if you don't have the speed wire hooked up (like slope measurements).
