Wiring an underglow kit
Is there a way when wiring an underglow kit to have it turn on at night when you unlock ur car so it has the effect of aux lighting around the car at night. I think it would be pretty cool. thanks

all i can say is PLEASE DONT. No offense, but unless your Z is completely pimped out, dont put neons on. You need a unique paintjog, decals, maybe a vinal, and some tints before you can put neons on, and thats only for show car purposes. Please dont.

What does the fact that I have Yoda in my sig. have ANYTHING to do with my opinion of neon lighting on a car?
Actually, it really has nothing to do with Star Wars or Star Trek. Both of which I do in fact like. Yoda is in reference to my Zaino useage.
I'm sorry but underbody neon on THIS car would be the EPITOME of rice!

Neons are cool guys, come on. I remember back when I was 14 and neons first came out. They were the thing to have. Fast forward 10 years and I wouldn't be caught dead with neons under my G35. BUT, he did ask a question, and that question needs an answer-
Get a DEI pulse timing relay. This relay will turn on and stay on for a preset amount of time (say 1 minute). Wire the (-) side of the coil to ground and wire the (+) side of the coil to your Unlock actuator output coming off of the BCM.
This will cause the relay to turn your neons for 60 seconds every time you unlock the doors. You could get super creative and throw another relay inline to prevent the neons from turning on when the ignition is on, you could also implement a photecell to only allow the neons to turn on at night. Also, as long as the power wire is hooked up right to the pulse timer you will still be able to use a seperate switch in parallel to turn the neons on at any time you want.
Enjoy your new bowl of rice,
Kevin

KPtechnologies is currently working on a custom project that might benefit you. We are bulding a remote pump interface for a customer's air bag suspension. It might be possible to retrofit this interface for your neons, and would most likely be cheaper then the pulse timer. Contact me through www.KPtechnologies.net for more details.
As far as finding the DEI pulse timer check out www.directed.com.
