Radio Install - Harness Question
I am going to be installing my new head unit (alpine 9835) in a few days and I have a couple questions about connecting the wiring harnesses.
1. Illumination/dimmer wires - The factory harnes has two wires for this a positive and a negative. The alpine harness only has one wire. Which wire (+ or -) goes into the alpine harness and do I need to connect the other one? If so where?
2. Radio antenna amp - Is the power antenna the only wire that the car uses or do I also need to connect the remote turn on wire to the factory harness?
3. Ground - Is there a good place to ground the amp behind the dash or is it ok to use the ground on the factory wiring harness?
Thank you for help.

1.) I don't remember which illumination/dimmer wire I used. I can only suggest trying both to see which works.
2.) You must connect the power antenna or amplifier remote turn-on wire to the stock harness' power antenna lead. If you do not, your reception will be horrible. My headunit (Pioneer 9400) did not have a power antenna lead, so I used the remote. The antenna amplifier is located near the antenna, underneath that weird fuzzy panel between the strut tower bar and the rear of the car, on the driver's side.
3.) Can't remember where I grounded either, but I imagine there's a bolt within easy reach near the shifter that'll work fine. Another possibility is one of the bolts holding some of the computer crap down underneath the console.

Did you get the adaptor harness so you don't have to cut up you factory one?
If so, When you plug the adaptor harness into the factory harness there is only one orange wire for illumination to connect to the Alpine harness.
For Radio amp I tapped into the 12V switched power (Red) in adaptor harness.
For ground I use the metal bracing that the console bolts to. I believe I put the 2 grounds under the two screws that are on the outer sides of the white box that the temp/fan/ac controller plugs into.
I have 0 noise.

Three hours later I am finished.
For future installers
1. Positive wire for the dimmer
2. Power antenna wire only (thanks bastard)
3. There are two bolts behind the triple guage cluster that you can use to ground the radio. (thanks ecstaz)
