Default 2 amps in glove compartment

Guys,

Is it okay to have two amps located in the compartment behind the passenger side. I removed all the assembly so now it looks like the driver side compartment.

My amps are Phoenix gold R series. Any heat problem?

Also, how do i remove the cover (plastic door)? It seems there is a long straight rod that holds the cover together. Any easy way to remove it?

Tony

The only question is do your amps get really hot? some amps do, so do not.. it also depends on how you tune them and your speakers...

i wouldnt have a problem with putting the amps there, but i might look into adding a cooling fan/duct of some sort just to get circulation there.

me thinks Ive spoken with you about pheonix gold amps before...

i have the 5.0.4 if you recall...

I originally had the back two channels running 1 12 inch sub....now they are running 2 10inch eclipse aluminum cone subs

I hadnt had any heat problems until I was coming home today from dallas and the amp shut down... I was running it real damn hard so I asume it was due to heat

you should be okay however

from my experience, phoenix gold amps runs pretty hot, since most people use it to the limit (pushing the close to the rated wattage). Mine did overheat even in the trunk (XS2300). Just install a fan to blow on the heatsinks, then you should be ok..

Ahsmo,

Where have you been dude? Finally you answer about your amp.

I went ahead and got me the same amp as yours and also got the phoenix gold mono amp (R 5.0:1).

Are you using any amp for the front? I recall you did before.

By the way, I build an amp rack to hold the two amps. With all the wires running close to each other, it is dangerous? When I build my pcs, there are so many dam wires crossing each other, but I never fear anything with the pc. What about car amps?

Keep the power wire as far away from the wires carrying signal to the speakers such as speaker wire and interconnects and you will be fine. I just built a simple wooden two level rack and mounted both my amps on it then mounted that to the sound deading material in that compartment and wired them up. I have a JL Audio 300/4 and 500/1 and no heat problems whatsoever with everything closed up.

Guys,

I took the glove compartment door off, by cutting the "string" that holds the door when it is fully open. Now my light (inside the glove compartment ) doen't work. Was the light dependent on that?

On a side not, I gave up on building the custom box at the driver location. Now my amps sit there and had to put the cover back.
