i didn't pay full price because i used to be an installer there. i think the regular price is like $399 installed. i have additional features that would require you to spend more, for ex. a proximity sensor. anyway, no tilt feature that i am aware of but if anything of mass gets near my Z it chirps to the point of just plain annoying. depending on where i am at, my pager tells me what is going on with my Z.

I have this one installed at circuit city too for $399. I dont like it tho because it only comes with 1 remote and the remote is too bulky, its like holding a big eraser lol. Also circuit city did a poor job installing it, if u do it at a professional shop u will pay more but u get more sensors hookup, I had to hook up hood sensor and proximity motion sensor myself.

I have last years top of the line Viper but I don't know the model #! Great product. I've been using Viper alarms for years & used to sell them retail. We never had issues with them. Pager works over great distance. Couldn't live without the security of the pager.

i have no problem with the remote being too bulky. the battery does alright for me. it might wear down faster than the remote for my viper800 but i would expect that with the paging system. when within range, the control and the brain are constantly talking to each other, that alone wears the batteries faster. i guess every circuit city is different, for that matter best buys, the good guy etc... depends on who is installing and their actual knowledge of instaling alarms and their attention to details such as solder joints. My alarm works like a champ! however, it is shitty that places like circuit city charge extra for all the cool extra features, especially when they are a simple one wire hook ups. luckily i know what i am doing and was able to hook up the extras myself. my buddy did the brain, i did everything else. he taught me how to do alarms and is much faster than i. i was leaving the next day to return to Florida so we both knocked it out.

the reason i dont want to go with the 791xv because i dont need teh remote start. the 690 has the same options just without the remote start!

I have the 690 as well. Great alarm.

The battery on the remote does not last long, maybe less than a month. Easy fix, I use rechargeable's.

I added interior piezo's and put 2 sirens in the hood area, also added a backup battery.

Last mod is a proximity sensor.

Overall I am pleased.

I want to add a remote start (on my 6-speed '04 Z) in addition to my Viper 670XV system. The installer showed me the installation manual for the DEI/Viper add-on module. He said I needed the spare key which goes inside the module. I found that kind of odd but I'm thinking because of the immobilizer chip built into the key.

I was just wondering if the valet key has a chip in it that he could use to do the install?? My old car (98 Corolla) has a older Viper 300+ alarm with remote start but didn't need a key because no immobilizer chip. Let me know if anyone has encountered the same situation...peace all
