Question More Noise Deadening Questions..YAY

I keep hearing about people putting liquid deadener in their wheel wells or something like that? Where would I put the liquid deadener?

So far, I have heard that the noise comes in from the wheel wells (or wherever it is...something with "wheel"), the trunk area, and the doors. Not so much the floor, which is why I just want to deaden the necessary areas, and I feel like 36 SQ. FT. will be fine for trunk + doors, and then just get how much liquid you guys recommend for the other place.

I HATE the road noise after I realized how loud it was...I was so use to tuning it out.

Any recommendations/suggestions are welcome!

I started with a 36Sqft back of Extreme Dynamat and ended up adding another 12Sqft with a door pack. I'm very pleased with the results. I also put liquid sound deadener in the wheel wells as best I could.

I would say concentrate on interior panels that are closest to the wheels, that is the source of road noise IMO. Include the kick panels, outer edge of floor, lower door, rear sides and especially around the rear interior fender wells and trunk area.

The peel-and-stick stuff like Dynamat will work on the interior. I used liquid Fatmat (www.fatmat.com) in the wheel wells, which made a huge difference in quieting not only road noise but those rocks that kick up in the wells. There's already some stuff that Nissan put inside the wells, but not nearly enough.

Jack up the car, take off the wheel, and cover the brakes with newspaper to protect against drips. Apply liquid Fatmat with a paint brush, more coats will deaden more noise, this stuff works great.

For the outside of the car, you didn't need to go so expensive with FatMat. Regular underbody coating will work, and its like $40 a gallon. Applied w/brush or sprayed on (go brush) just like the FatMat process described ..

I've applied several coats of liquid Fatmat (3 gallons) throughout the rear of the car, in the doors, and in the wheel wells, it makes a huge difference, the car is much quieter. Just rough up the surface with some steel wool before you apply it to painted metal and it sticks better.

I ended up using 3 gals of Spectrum II from Secondskinaudio. Applied it to entire inside including floor and outside in wheel wells. On top of it I added 1 or more layers of acoustic foam. I used closed cell neoprene in tight areas, and open/closed foam like Dynaliner or Tacmat in more open areas. Before this I had used about 50 sq ft of Dynamat Extreme which did nothing for soundproofing but did quiet rattles. For sound dampeneing from the tires you need to use liquid and foam.
